(I'll move this to the Off Field Board later but am posting here for now in hopes of getting as much support for the concept as possible. PRE really supported this concept last year and it would be great if as many as possible could get behind it again.
Richmond Rookie Club 2007
Dear rosy
Welcome back to our re-subscribers to the Rookie Club and hello to those who have or are considering joining us.
This email is a preview of what 500 Richmond members enjoyed during the 2006 Season. I invite all our members to consider joining the Rookie Club at a cost of $77 (inclusive of GST) and ensure you that this additional contribution is a direct raiser to upgrade the clubs recruiting structure. To those who have already renewed, thank you, and we hope you are exicited to be apart of the Rookie Club in 2007.
Let me explain the concept.
In 2006 we created the Club for those brave enough to put their tipping skills against our Senior Coach, Terry Wallace, and for those interested in the life of a Rookie and what goes on particularly amongst the younger brigade and the Club. Throw in the recruiting information night pre the draft and I felt there was mutual benefit for the $30k raised.
When Terry arrived it was well documented that we were in the very bottom group of spending within our football department. Prudent Management and improved on field results have certainly enabled us to build our resources but we don’t undervalue what groups like Club 80, Rookie Club and Tiger Lilies contribute directly into the Football Division.
Our focus in 2007 is to increase recruiting resources. Francis Jackson’s transition to full time last season now needs to be matched by paid professional assistance around Australia. We have lost good men as the volunteer status wears thin when our competitors are paying good money.
To encourage your Rookie Club involvement we will:
1. Maintain our Rookie Player diary with this year Tas Clingan, a very different person than Angus Graham but never the less an interesting story you will enjoy and better understand what our players go through to make the grade or should I say receive “your stamp of approval”. The First episode is available below.
2. Share with you a monthly Recruiting Report written by Francis Jackson. We will give you a full dossier on the top two or three players from each state with video footage, statistical analysis and testing results. We will build a library for you then come Draft Information Night you can be involved in genuine feedback/ dialogue with Francis and I. The first sample preview is Trent Cotchin.
3. The Tipping contest with a new first prize (2006 was a Coaches Box Day with Terry Wallace) of an Interstate Trip with the Team. “Spend the weekend with Paul Armstrong, Terry Wallace and the playing group from Airport to Airport, with all the team meeting, meals, etc. Paul Armstrong will take care of you and Ground Management permitting may even let you sit on the bench during the match.
4. Our year end Draft Preview Night (Tuesday November 20). I believe this is the most informative night the club holds where Recruiting Manager (Francis Jackson) and I take you through the vast array of information we have on all the potential draftees and give you the inside information on who are our prioirities.7 Drinks and Food provided.
5. Round 1 Rookie Club catch up and recruiting review will be held at Punt Road Oval 4.00 – 4.45pm Sunday April 1. More information below.
Please join us, your contribution is appreciated. Our service, I believe, warrants the investment. Make sure you join quickly, as Round 1 is only just a week away.

Sneak Preview - Meet Your New Rookie - Tas Clingan
My name is Tas Clingan and welcome to my first diary entry.
When I finished school last year at Lake Bolac, I thought it would be the last time in quite a while that I would have to write an essay, but I guess you never really know what’s around the corner.
I am a touch nervous, to tell you the truth, having heard from everyone how good Angus was at this last year, so the pressure is on me to come up with something as amusing as Angus did or, maybe unlike Angus, I will just tell you the truth. MORE
Sneak Preview - Recruting Report - Trent Cotchin
Trent came under notice in last years Under 16 National Championships playing for Vic Metro. Trent played in the midfield and displayed a diverse array of skills and an ability to win contested inside possessions. He also utilized his running capabilities to run and carry the football.
In the national carnival he averaged 20 possessions of which 10 were contested. Trent is a natural right footer but is very comfortable on his left side.
Trent returned from the carnival to play 6 games for the Northern Knights and recorded impressive stats for a bottom aged player. MORE
