sorry if i'm starting too many new topics, but this is a valid question considering a lot of us have just converted to the darkside tonite
What is the question valid for? I have no idea why I've been singled out and wasn't even going to bother replying.
When I think we'll win each week I don't delude myself thinking we've got an invincible team of superstars. Anything can happen on any given occasion, and if you have enough wins finals will follow.
I hope the team go out every game believing they're a good chance and give it everything they've got and that will remain my way of supporting them too. The wins will rarely happen if you have a defeatist attitude from the start.
I realise a lot of people here think I have my head in the sand, I've been told it often enough but in return I actually don't understand those who have ultimate faith in this 5 year plan" and the new, super-dooper game plan we're supposed to have. I also don't understand the absolute confidence that our kids are going to be long-term elite players. A lot more work needs to be done before we know how they'll work out but there are several who've been in the system for a while now and aren't stepping up yet.
I still see us playing static football, kicking across the opposition goals, kicking to standing targets, chipping it around as though it's a hot potato nobody wants to be stuck with, the lack of options up ground, the turnovers, the tackles that are brushed off so easily, the poor skills, the lack of pace and run.....I could go on. ;D
I'd like to see the bench used as a disclipinary and coaching tool but that rarely happens. Will be interesting to see if anyone is made a scapegoat and has a run for Coburg this year. It would be the best thing for our team but it hasn't happened in the past and it didn't happen last year.
On the way home I wondered at the absolute assassination Frawley would be copping if he was still coach, whereas in reality I don't think we're a long way removed from what we were like under Spud's reign.
Danny would have been blamed bigtime if he was coaching last night. Was he just our scapegoat? Is it the coaches or is it the cattle?
I'll just go on supporting the team Ian and the results can look after themself. I'm still shell-shocked now but in a few days I'll be expecting us to turn it around agaisnt the Saints. That's just my nature and I can't change that.
If all I did was wanted to bag the club I wouldn't bother spending so much time supporting them.
