Round 1 Richmond vs Carlscum

Am already expecting Rance to miss very very dissapointed i must say, but nothing new there with dissapointment from team selections.

Looks like the Ranga might get a guernsey after all.

Might be some disappointed boys to miss out.

Isn't it great to have a bit more depth this year. The team sheet becomes a lot more anticipated when 85% of the team aren't automatic inclusions.

Good question - is the social club open?

Crazy not to do something with 80-90K turning up.

Just rang the club--Punt Road is closed for the season!!

The Age preview:

Summary: These teams swapped wins last season, and appear closely matched again. The fitness cloud over Blues superstar spearhead Brendan Fevola tips the odds in favour of the Tigers. In the round one loss last year, he was off-key, kicked two goals, and Carlton lost. In round 14, he booted four, and the Blues prevailed. Both teams have strong midfields, and young, developing backlines, but Richmond has the edge in the ruck thanks to the mobile, big-bodied Troy Simmonds, and if Fevola is not at the top of its game, the Tigers defence, led by Moore and Thursfield, should be able to limit the Blues to a manageable total. Richmond's spread of potential goalkickers looks wider, with Brett Deledio a force when not scorching around the midfield, Nathan Brown back to full fitness and Morton and Riewoldt fast becoming potent targets. The absence of Stevens and Carazzo will take the edge off Carlton's blue chip midfield, and they could be playing as many as three first-gamers. In what should be a memorable start to the season, the Tigers could again prove good value first-up.

Based on the Nab Cup/Challenge series and preseason, most tipsters will be backing the tankers.

Lets look at last years results.

R1 R 4.3 8.5 11.5 17.7 109 C 4.3 9.6 10.10 11.13 79

R14 R 2.7 7.9 10.13 12.16 88 C 1.5 5.9 10.12 17.16 118

1 win each of 30 points.

I am not convinced about the scum. They might have some good young players but their backline and rucks are 2nd rate, they are too reliant on p!ssola....but their midfield is very good.

Round 1 2008 we ran over the top of them with Judd and p!ssola.

Round 14 we kicked ourselves out of it. 2.7 in the first qtr should have been at least 6.3 that would have given us a different result.

With doubt on their Fullforward, Stevens and Carazzo out of their midfield, no significant improvement to their rucks or forwards the media and football public are being sucked in by the hype.

A fit Richo, Simmonds and Nathan Brown, with the addition of Cuz in the midfield, our solid young backline and Jack and Mitch firing on all cylinders we will take the chocolates.

Go boys, EAT EM ALIVE!

Out of the 5 panel members on the "footy show", only Shane Crawford thought we would win.

Even with enormous doubt on *smile*, stevens and carazzo out, 4 young debutants, a crap backline and thin ruck stocks, everone is getting sucked in by the tankers hype.

Good, lets start underdogs and stick it up everybody.

Hopefully the scum continue to plummit after our game and finish bottom four......I couldn't think of anything better.
