Round 1 Sold out is this correct?

bombers and pies make about 750,000 each for 85 to 90K fro Anzac day, if the tiges get over 90,000 id say we would be looking in the order of 750,000 to 1 million profit, i think it would be closer to 1 million which is fantastic for the club...
Does the gate go to Richmond or do we share? I had thought it was a shared gate, can anyone clarify for me?

I am certain the entire proceeds from this game go to the RFC. The only team we have a gate sharing agreement with is Essendon.

Channel 10 chiefs last night said they required several days notice to alert the public to a change to its advertised broadcast time.

But Richmond president Gary March last night called on the network to reverse its decision. "I would have thought there was still enough time to change their scheduling," March said.

"It's disappointing for those people who can't get along - it will probably be our biggest home-and-away game, with a finals-like atmosphere."

Tomorrow's forecast is 22C with a few light showers.

Well how much of a wanker is that Barham at Channel 10 then ? Last night they were carping on about not being able to go live because it was too late. Geez the networks come out with some *smile*. Only when massive bad publicity affects them do they respond to doing the right thing.

I think the issue is not whether you should be able to get a seat if you have a membership as clearly there is a qualification on the membership card that entry is subject to capacity. The issue is with the lack of information and transparency and running the ticketing arrangements so they appear only to maximise Ticketek's profits.

There area number of ways this could have been done. The AFL/MCG could have said any of the following:

(a) This is a fully ticketed game;
(b) Seats will be sold in tranches, say up to 10 thousand a day until sold out (preferably commencing with the best seats first)
(c) same as (b) save that a general admission area will be reserved for walk ups; or best of all
(d) Areas X and Y will be ticketed and area Z will be general admission. First in best dressed!

In that way everyone knows where they stand. You would think in 2009 the actual transmission of information so that an interested observer can actually understand wouldn't be that difficult. Apparaently we still rely on divining, tea leaves and secret whispers to work out the AFL's ticketing policies.

Dont like an exclusion of general admission as it can work to disenfranshise supporters who might struggle to make ends meet. Having to find an extra $50 bucks on top of membership to take your family to the footy can stretch some families. Having said that it certainly will be a windfall to the club

Just rang the MCG............
The person I spoke to ( although dont entirely believe this as gospel ) said that .......

NO GENERAL ADMISSION tickets will be allowed into the ground for standing room areas. If you do not have a seated reserved ticket, you cannot get in is what she said.

When I asked, who will be in the standing area only that has allocation of 5,000 the response was " We're not too sure of that at the moment?"

WTF?

I would say you have a small chance to turn up at 4.30pm on Thursday afternoon and possibly be able to purchase those on the day or standing area tickets if you are really keen ( just reading between the lines), but don't bank on this, it could go either way or be NO GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS at all just as they said??

If the MCG doesnt know..... then who DOES know?

Couple of quick questions guys, my members reserved seats are in section N9, does any one know what gate entry out the front I need to go in?
Also is it worthwhile getting there early still or should i be able to pretty well go straight in?

u can pretty well go straight in anytime.

thats what I love about the reserve seat. even for the big games, can grab a feed and a drink before heading to the game before it starts

very different from the old days. we used to get there early to watch the second half of the reserves...now you get there early and you get to watch Mazda ads

I just rang the MCG and a guy said there are 'under 2,000' standing room tickets left - but they wouldn't only be sold to Richmond game 11/17 members or Carlton 17 members. These will not be on sale to the general public. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Gates open at 5.30 I believe, he said if you got there then you'd have a good chance of getting one, but of course 'no guarantees'.

Hope this helps.
