Round 1 team v Gold Coast

Beware this game. The Suns on practice form will not be easy beats by a long way.

Definitely
We'll know more in a week
1. Will Ablett train?
2. Will Jacko and Riewoldt play in next weeks scratch match

It's game time people

PS: it's nice Cloke gave May some mental scars. They'll be fresh enough for Vickery to run some salt into.

Yes, agree.

Forecast heavy rain in Cairns end of this week, with further rain following - http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/watl/rainfall/pme.jsp?ref=ftr

Further:
How many tall forwards Gold Coast uses, will determine how many tall backs we might need.

Their last team, a week ago, looked like they have a heap of players still to come back - Ablett, Prestia, O'Meara, McKenzie, Swallow, Rischitelli & Thompson.

So, they have a heap of injuries, or a lot of fresh or under-done players returning.

Their previous game, their win against Essendon, is probably a better indication of their final team - http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/nab-challenge/2014/1/gcfc-v-ess

We're not playing in Cairns this time.

All good Phantom, we're playing at Metricon on the Gold Coast this year, not in Cairns!

Thank goodness for that!

Much better, little or no rain expected on the Gold Coast, over the next fortnight.

With that, probably tempted to go with
3 tall backs - Rance, Chaplin & Astbury
2 tall forwards - Reiwoldt & Vickery
1 ruck - Hampson
1 interchange tall - Griffiths

Although, a fortnight is a long time in footy circles.

I was at Griffith Uni next door to Southport sHarks today and it hammered down rain on and off. The last week has been rainy but prior to that it was a very dry summer

Injury update on the :shhh site

batch calf test
Dea ankle 1
Jacko hammy 1-2
Lennon knee 2-3
Maric ankle 6-7

No mention of Newy
Maric's injury time seems to keep extending

Said on Talking Tigers Newy will play against the bombers.

At metricon I am tipping Griff to kick goals from the middle of the ground :)

It will be nice if he can but that's 80 meters

Metricon is as long as Punt road oval, the MCG, and Etihad

80 metres ? He'll need a couple of more steps in his run up I guess. If 3 steps can caress it 65m, 5 should give us the required 80.

Jacko won't be out there against the Suns. Commentating at tomorrow's clash with the Bummers so may get further insight into 'hammy' status

Steve Morris Alex Rance David Astbury

Bachar Houli Troy Chaplin Nick Vlaustuin

Brandon Ellis Reece Conca Brett Deledio

Dustin Martin Jack Riewoldt Chris Newman

Shane Edwards Ty Vickery Ben Griffiths

R. Shaun Hampson, Trent Cotchin, Miles/Thomas (for Jackson)

I. Ricky Petterd, Shaun Grigg, Jake King

S. Nathan Foley

* Think they will play either Miles or Thomas as the Jackson tough in and under run role.
