It’s gonna be a long year for Freo fans if that’s the way Longmuir wants to play against lesser sides.

Gone back to reality. Honeymoon over. Fyfe is done and dusted. Jackson, so far, waste of money.
If you’ve got Fyfe playing as a permanent forward and you’ve brought Jackson in to roll forward as a tall option as well, plus Taberner down there, why the *** would you be so negative and conservative with your ball movement - especially against a lesser side like St Failure ?

They chipped it sideways, backwards, slow, and used no run and carry when they had plenty of opportunities.

Terrible. Dumb.

And the Saints had their 2 main forwards out didnt they King and Membrey.

Thats a dire result for Flagmantle they should have been ab;e to win that one.

Most impressive teams for the round for me were dare I say it Scumwood, Poort & Sydeney.
Melbourne and Bumwood for me. Melbourne confirmed their pre season form, team structure and expectations. Bumwood gave an indication they’re not going away.

Think Port will revert to type sooner rather than later.

GC and Freo terrible.

Melbourne and Collingwood both look a level above the rest this round. Melbourne beat the Dogs as easily as they beat us in the practice match. Collingwood's relentless hard running eventually overwhelmed the Cats. The Swans looked good as well.

Bloody uncontested mark, he was the only one that went up for it. Harry's got his knickers showing, wonder if he'll get some sexist comments on his insta n faceless accounts.

I thought Rachele was emerging player of the round albeit with a soft matchup (Fatty Green). The youngster tore the first quarter to shreds and was so smart and incisive. Tired a little. Richmond fans will get a good look at this kid next week.

Sheezel surprised me - Crazy Clarko pulling a Fly and parking his young star at HBF to avoid collisions and get him loose. Ashcroft is as strong as anybody through the core. Terrific. JHF was outstanding. Game wrecker. Ginbey was a bit quieter than I expected but looks ace. Callaghan plays football, not ring-a-rosy, and he plays it with authority. Like.

And The 'Pou is really something. I'm going to watch the first quarter of that game again right now. 'Pou porn.

Thoughts on N. Daicos? Where do you rank him amongst the emerging talent?

I’ll jump in for a N Daicos rant

Have half backs ever had it better.
Not diminishing N. daicos and Sheezel as they are great players but - when ball is turned over their direct opponents dont man tbem up , their opponents run defensively to guard space and zone. It is then left up to daicos and his mates to try and pierce through that defensive set up.
So many ‘possessions’ dont mean what they used to mean, not as hard earned. But they are still spoken about like they are what they used to be. Ball Given to daicos like a quarter-back.
Can he play like this for how many more seasons? Can he be a midfield beast? Not sure
Dusty and Cotch used get pot shots taken at them when they were running around accumulating at half back. But we were losing. The test will
Come when Pies start losing, if that happens

He just got attention, SA. Was quiet. Noble got loose and Daicos has much more hurt in him than Noble so Geelong got an edge in that tactical moment.

Daicos will get more attention this year as Merv rightly points out. Good player but.

The notes I posted are just on who caught my eye. Did you like any of the youngsters?
