Round 18 2007, the beginning of the end of Wallace

Interesting to see that even a Collingwood supporter from BLOS has more intelligence than the ferals on here calling for TWs head:

They knew they would be buying some pain, so really need to stick with Wallace for the next two years. They have been reactive for the last 25 or so years, if they revert back to that style of recrimination against coaches, they will never get a coach prepared to make long term decisions, they will however get coaches that will trade to keep them middle of the list and offer only relief from being right at the bottom.

Richmond have about 2 or 3 years of pain to go, they need to accept that, forget all the crap dished out to them and they should expect some reward in a few years.

So you think getting a BF Scum supporter agreeing with you strengthens your argument :-\ Interesting.

I don't think Westy needs any reassurances on his opinion. One of the more knowledgable and well reasoned posters around here.

In short he knows what his is talkging about. ;D

The shortest priced favourites and longest odds outsiders in AFL history.

Geelong $1.02

Richmond $13.00

Richmond will blow out even more closer to the game.

That never happened under Forrest Gump.

Your right. Its been 44ys since Geelong were the "team"

$13.00 is unbelievable. Surely the longest ever odds in a head to head race. I put a lazy $5 on us the other day when we were at odds of $10.00, which I thought were long odds, and now looks short compared to $13.00.

GO TIGES!!!!

Too many times in the recent past I have felt nothing coming into a game.

Instead of nervous anticipation wondering whether my tigers can come home with the goods, I am wondering how much we are going to lose by.

I had this feeling in 2003, it's back again in 2007.

The writing is on the wall Terry.

Kid's, injuries, non performing seniors....whatever.

1 win in a season just isn't good enough.

I'm fine with how the list has been turned over, I didn't expect a 3 season turnaround, and I'm not suprised at where we are now. People forget how truly *smile*ed up our list was when TW came on board.

If players hit their peak between ages 24 and 28, the 2004 draftees will peak 2009-2013.Wallace says wait till 2011, so he's about spot on. After 25 years without any notable success, whats another 2-4 years. Regardless of who is coaching the club, if you continue to pump youth in via the draft (ie: dont trade your picks), then success is inevitable - it just depends on what "grade" of success you achieve and that is where factors like the coaching staff come into play.

Just remember, we havent had a recruitment department until recently, nor any cash to extend the scouting tentacles beyond the minimum.
Sit tight - theres nothing more any of us can do.

We haven't sacked a coach since the Geish. There isn't too many calling for Wallace's head. Only a minority amplified by feral supporters from other clubs.
The last coach we sacked was Walls wasnt it?

Thought that you could count the Geish as well.

As an aside, would you say that Sheedy has been sacked?
Gieschen, with time left on his contract, resigned.
Considering that the Essendon board said that they were sacking Sheedy then you'd have to say that he was sacked.

Not sure that was exactly what the Board said but on that logic then one would have to say that Frawley was sacked also.

Is it right that Gieschen resigned to give Richmond the opportunity of getting Sheedy who was coming off contract with Essendon?

This Friday night Round 19........Collingwood

This week we will be in the football spotlight, and like previous rounds will again capitulate to our opposition because not only are our players not good enough yet, neither is our coach.

Anyone who can tell me that our players are playing for Wallace has rocks in their head.

He has lost whatever he had, IF he in fact had anything.

Our game plans stink, our best defenders are never on their men, our senior players are invisible and their is no spirit whatsoever among the playing group.

The continuation of the end of Wallace.

I really thought he was tough enough to take this club by the scruff of the neck, clean out the imposters and start a new dynasty.

Like most of those before him, he hasn't got what it takes.

No Tiger74 not a man-crush, he has crushed my dreams and expectations.

Terry is starting to remind me of Spud. Not only is he starting to use the same quotes as Spud, but Wallet does not have a game plan. He also does not have the balls to use his pretty boy's (Polak & Bowden) in more accountable roles, he doesn't have the balls to wring their necks.

Terry is already starting to give me the same gut wrenching feeling Spud gave me in his 3rd year.

I said this earlier. Is that the fate of Richmond coaches? After a couple of years you turn into a bumbling, cliche ridden idiot who couldn't coach if their life depended on it.

What p!sses me off about this 2011 rubbish, is I there is NO WAY he would have said that when he was trying to get the job.

When he started, Wallace was all about innovation, trying new things, now he's the complete opposite. Will not change his plan until it's already gone to sh.t.

Remember when he used to get his assistants to listen to the radio and tv for insights into their perfomance midgame? As long as they didn't take EVERYTHING said as gospel, I thought that was a great idea.

Like the RFC does with it's players, it's ripped Wallace of any capability he may have had when he joined us...

Give him till mid next year and if things havent improved.. NEXT!

Terry dont tell the media whats wrong, tell the players and COACH them to change their attitude

Stan Alves is very strong at not giving players excuses to lose, too young, too many injured, etc etc.

I like that approach

The team that goes onto the ground has to win, whoever is in it, no compromisees, and if you have doubts about anyone giving 100% then drop them and try someone else.

Coach for improvement and don't tolerate anyone not doing everything in their power to contribute. There are a million small things that can be done such as the rucks getting to the goal line to touch a short kick, standing beside someone kicking for goal to stop them running around for an easier shot, just do something no matter how out of your depth you are it can start something happening.

On a slightly different tack has anyone seen him at the ends of games, a few games ago he looked shocking, really stuffed and worse than if he had played, he seems to be reacting badly to the pressures. And that was before the recent extra pressures after the other coaches were getting sacked.

Wallace should see out his time and hopefully have sucess, but I am not so sure about Football Director Miller.
