Round 2 - other games.

Neil Craig is an absolute control freak as a coach. Micro-manages to a minute detail, and it is his way or the highway.

Have often thought he might have been a good coach for us given the young list we have.

Sorry mate, Graig coaching richmond would be the the final nail in the our coffin...
He doesn't make the finals and doesn't preform well its to the dole office for your micro managed coach.
How the hell did they lose to collingwood last year in the finals?
He panicked and stacked the backline!!

We have DH now so it is immaterial. But he has a reputation for getting a lot out of his list by being rigid on team rules and gameplan.

Good to see the Crows copping a good old thumping

Good to see the Bombers copping one as well.

Freo look impressive today. Not sure I rate the Bombers all that higly though. Still, a game the Dockers had to win if they want to be legitimate finals contenders.

Would have no prob with DH borrowing/supplementing from the Craig copybook

Bummers got done by 44 points against Freo at home. Not good.

Harvey is turning Freo into a much more competitive unit. Kudos to him a few people might have to eat their words about him (including myself).

Same here. I said he'd be the first coach to go........but it's only Round 2 ;D

Same. Thought Swans played well against the saints last week.

Swans never stop amazing me. Every year they are meant to bottom out but they don't.
Their foot dept is very well run
just like ours

Cats are too hard to beat no matter how hard a team tries. Hawks looked like they had Geelong in the bag with only 15 minutes to go but it wasn't to be.

Kills me to think how the hell Peterson all of a sudden comes out as a skilful player. This just shows how easy it is to mistake some low performing players at lowly clubs (like ours) but in reality turn out to be top players when they have better teammates around them. One problem we have with Lids and Tambo IMO.

Really off colour cats still got the job done. Franklin goes missing again, Cats didn't even play Scarlett or Taylor on him.

Gablett was off his game - got caught holding it about three times.

Rioli is a genius, nearly every great hawk play involved him. I think he makes Hawks a 3 -4 goal better side.

Western Bullies will make mince meat out of the Hawks after their bye this week. ;D

PS Isn't Hawkins the most overrated and luckiest player in the league? Imagine if our Jack had his gig?

True but I was thinking more of Ottens.

During the half-time break of the Hawks v Cats game, it was interesting hearing Lloyd's true belief in that Knights' coaching strategies / game plans aren't gonna get the Bummers into the finals.

Geez this bloke really lets it out. No wonder he's doing a good job in the footy media already.

True to an extent but Ottens can play and adds value, Hawkins just steals oxygen.

I wonder if we would have been any better if we had kept Ottens rather than recruit Meyer and Patto (oh the pain). Ottens, Richo, Brown and Simmo might have been a handy quartet in 2005.

Alternatively what if North hadn't gone gaga and offered 7 and another pick for Thompson and instead had given that to us for Brad. We might have picked a tall at 1 or 4 if we had pick 7 as well?

...and what if we picked Pavlich instead of Fiora...???

Too many what ifs lamby. I reckon Ottens was a waste of time for us & for Richo, and Simmo turned out to be a failure.

Both cement legs. Have a look at Ottens' dud-type moves at Geelong, it reminds me when he played with us.

Yeah still very good - just think whatever niggle he had affected his sharpness and speed a tad.

Of course Hawks lack of leg speed and penetration in the midfield was till exposed by Cats mids.
