Hey, I have just heard on the radio that Hayden Kennedy has been run over by an ambulance..................................................apparently he didn't hear the siren! :cutelaugh

Nice one!

Interesting to talk about politics & socialism, sometimes, but the difference on who became the scapegoat may have depended on who had the union/association behind them.

The Umpires - The Umpires association.
Max Harvey - no one.

I thought the timekeeper was supposed to keep sounding the siren till the umpire signals game over. In which case the scapegoat isn't the scapegoat.

Yep, in the true defintion, person bearing blame due to others, reckon Harvey is due some blame but shouldn't have to carry the lot.

Reckon the Commission might give a definition of scapegoat?

Just out of curiosity, how many games did the Dawks win last year?
If they had protested the goal umpires decision in the bummers match and morally been awarded the match would this have pushed them out of priority selections?
Might have been a couple of extra very early selections available to other clubs in the 2005 draft.

How many times have clubs been ROBBED over the last hundred years, and had to cop it sweet?
The AFL made a purely feelgood decision and considering the amount of dollars and promotion floating into what is no longer a social/ amatuer comp it won't be long before clubs are taking the AFL to task every time there is a WE WUZ ROBBED scenario.

Unlike you to sensationalize things TM. Pandora's box is not open, nor is the can of worms.

C'mon jb even I need to run amok with the whatif button every now and then.

I've got a feeling that this decision will come back to bite the AFL bigtime in the future. We all know the AFL has a heap of rules in place that are based purely on the goodwill of the clubs and players involved in the comp. Sooner or later someone will crack it when push comes to shove.
