Round 6_Wayne Campbell will be coach

Buckley as mid field coach, mathews as defense coach and williams as forward coach, sheedy as coach mentors.

At least we would have 4 different game plans happening at once, the opposition wouldn't have a clue which plan to combat first - better than no plan
[ :clap :clap :clap/quote]
beer in a bottle............brilliant....i think it might cost a bit more than TW is currently on.....but must say :rofl :clapping :rotfl

IF & I say IF it happens then IMO there can be only 1 interim coach till season's end and it should be SHEEDY !

Things can turn around & similar to last season we can do it.. Lets just hold on & see what happens.

the indicator to me is if continue to lose and then we lost to Melbourne . Thats it. I'll blow a fuse ! Last night the power was connected :-)

I know it would be unpopular here, but I'd rather see us take on Mark Williams or Woosha when they get the flick.......assuming Lethal isn't available.

Grass is always greener though. I know a few West Coast people, including one ex-captain and champion player, who do not rate Woosha as a coach. One comment I have heard is that he lacks flexibility, imagination and flair when things need to be changed. Reckon you would some discontent at Port with Williams. And Lethal didn't exactly look like a master coach after Voss and Lynch retired, Lappin got injured and Aka walked. Quite a few of their players went backwards without those guys around.

1966 reapointing wallace for 2 more years just to prove to the rest of the afl that we have moved on from sacking coaches is shear idiocy.

we don't need to prove anything we just need to focus on bringing richmond back to it's former glory,
reapointing wallace would consign richmond to extinction.

just for the record we haven't sacked a coach for 12 years

My flabber was ghasted enough when he was made the mids coach. If that happend, I reckon that would about do me in.

I know it's not fair to judge on only 1 game but if Thursday nights performance is anything to go by then we're in trouble. Our midfeild was simple terrible

Mark Williams or Leigh Matthews. Wayne Campbell would indicate that no lessons have been learned at Punt Road. Why? Because we need a coach who has taken a team to a Grand Final and won it. Not some nancy-pants decision to have a nice cultural fit.

"..and won it".....not completely necessary imo but yeah " a winner" who has been around a recent winning culture, seen what goes on and how that winning culture is implemented, is a must. Massive black line through Water Closet.

Campbell is a relic from a wasted past. He would be the wrong person to coach. Personally I wouldnt have him coaching a junior team.

We need someone with balls....he doesnt have them and in all honesty...has anyone seen improvement in our mids.....

Pass.

As much as it might be nice to see him have a go. One of the hero's from the only success I have seen being born in 1982.
I would hate to be here cutting him apart if he fails. I would love to see him become a Sr Coach at another club first. Failing with us would be ugly if it happened and might cost him his career anyways.

Hiring Wayne Campbell would be like hiring Danny Frawley. They both played in the least successful team of their era. Success is something they have not experienced, its is not something they can transmit to young players and it is not something either of them will achieve as a coach. Put simply they don't know what it takes to be a winning football club.

hmmm wasnt terry in a winning club? the hawks?

If Campbell is considered the best man available for the job (I doubt) then by all means let him coach us but he should NOT coach us simply because he's a former Richmond player.

Agree. For me I agree with Harry who has pushed Damien Hardwick. Tougg footballer who since giving it away has been involved with tough football sides. Buckley is at the top of the wishlist but I just don't see it happening.

So was clarkson, thompson, matthews, blight, sheedy....... But you are right, its easy to find players from successful clubs who were dud coaches, but my point is that its impossible to find players from worst of era clubs that made a successful AFL coach. Winning is a learned habit and they don't have it.
