Round 8 Team Changes V Crows

In the first of those two bad games he kicked 3 goals 3 behinds in a team that got womped by 157pts. Can't wait till he plays a good game
I agree once he starts to impose himself when the game is on then he,s AFL ready.[Take it as a positive criticism]

He's lining up at HBF.
Defence is where he showed promise when he started as a youngster in the Spud years.
Wallace rightly is giving him the opportunity again as he's been good for Coburg this year.
However if he doesn't work out as a defender it doesn't leave anywhere for Dan to go and will certainly be gone at seasons end.

ToO you have some grounds for your support for Schulz, but Dan hasn't even had a Brisbane game, what promise?

How the bloody hell does Jackson get a game ? & what on earth does Hyde have to do to get dropped? Cleve kicks 6 goals in 2 games & could have kicked more against Geelong, then gets dropped after 1 quite game, then the obvious replacement would be Jack, but no they bring in Meyer who was useless v the Cats, then does nothing at Coburg & comes staright back in.No wonder we are on the bottom with crap like this.

I'm glad he has been mentioned in defence, though I doubt Jacko will actually line up there. He looks good in defence.

Lol. I'm not a huge fan Billy by any means. I have serious question marks over his decision making and disposal. I very much doubt he'll be here next year but...

I just felt that when Jacko started his career in 2004 he had some pretty good games in defence under some trying conditions.
However Wallace has barely given DJ an opportunity down back in the seniors since he took over as coach.
He's been experimented with primarily as a forward and as a tagger in the few hitouts he's had. I just sense that DJ plays better when the footy is coming at him. It may not work out at all but Wallace is rewarding him for form at Coburg. Dan's only just turned 21 and may be a late bloomer. You'd want to be certain he can't play before delisting him and I'm sure that's all TW is doing.
A couple of years on an several lessons under his belt it's worth trying Dan down there again.

I agree with some of that. If he is to have any chance at all of making it – as slim as it may be – then I reckon his best chance is playing off half back. Certainly, that has been where he has played his best footy at Coburg where he’s dropped back into the hole and taken a few grabs whilst working over his opponent as well. Try and get him to play a bit of a Firrito style of game.

But even then, those games at Coburg have been matchups and situations against smaller and slower opponents/teams. At his in-between size and his pace, he’s always gonna get found out at senior AFL level I reckon.

Hey Red is there aproblem with his pace - I was a believer he was elite for pace?

If oyu remember DJ first few games were hard at it and showed a bit of mongrel - I hope he finds it again - we as a team could use some.

He may be a school boy champion at running in a straight line and when he's allowed to wind up... but he is as slow as a wet week on a football field with that "knees up Mother Brown" action of his.

He is slooooow on the football field. No doubt about it in my mind. Zero.

His physicality in the clinches is ok, yeah.

After Jackson's game on Tarrant in that night game, a pretty handy player at least, Jackson does not seem to ever have been give a big kp back task on an oppositions key forward. Wasn't disgraced that night.

needs to find a position asap

started in the backline - got dropped
went forward took a few grabs - injured/dropped
played as a tagger - got dropped

tonight is now or never

I am glad we keep rotating the young kids.

It prevents them being flogged every week.

This way they get to experience wins at Coburg every now and then to keep their spirits up.

yeh and they can get a sniff of the big time with their 33% game time in which they are expected to have an impact

great plan!
