Round 9 gameday thread v weagles at the G

That win was like premature ejaculation.
Got the job done but left with an unfulfilled gratification afterwards.
Do we need meaningless wins by 2 points?
Yeah, against a better team would be more convincing, but it is a win. Just hope we don't do the same next week against lolnorf.

Ask North. They went a slightly different route (the route some on here want) and have no idea how to win a game, watch their final quarter against the Bombers last week. The win is great for the confidence of the boys and for the boys seeing their work payoff with wins.

The hero of the match is Tom Brown for his defensive efforts in the dying seconds.

He also kicked a goal, but people will remember that tackle.

Just got home. Pretty pleased with some of the game, disappointed with others.

Thought out centre square work was awful. if Taranto or Hopper didn't win the centre clearance, then West Coast won it. They had plenty more that won it in there and playing Ryan off the defensive side and running through the centre circle was a great move by Mini, we couldn't cope with it.

I thought Banks played really well, played the Short role better than Short plays it. Constantly ran and provided an option coming out of the backline, and his kicking is far more consistent than Shorts has been. I wouldn't be bringing him back in next week.

Was pleased to see McAuliffe start (although was annoyed getting to the ground and hearing he was sub, but then the Short injury happened and justice was served. Rushed a bit of his disposal particularly in the 1st half, but his tackles stick and are hard.

I really liked Jonty's game, did some really nice things, particularly in the 3rd.

We still need to find ways to stop teams opening us op so easily through the middle, but thought in general we were the better team today.

Interesting to see how many of our boys got to Reid at the end of the game, lots of talking going on................

Great to get the win, but geez that was a hard game to watch.

Baffles me why we seem to just concede the kick in every time. And then the secondary kick down the line as well. Absolutely drives me nuts.

Understand but rebuilds take more than one draft.
It’s a balancing act but we need a couple of low draft picks to nail our midfield requirements for next season.
Will anyone remember the win against the wooden spooner at our ground by 2 points?

Out pick won't be any higher than 3 (not allowing for any FA picks like for Allen), so we will still have a high draft pick, possibly still 2 (maybe 3 if Allen leaves) even with the win. Whether its 1 or 2, does it really make that much difference in terms of who we draft long term compared to the value of the wins for a young list?

I am wrapt.

For a team everyone thought was rock bottom, no winning spooner of a team, we now have 3 wins.

The class of 21 with Brown and Banks have arrived.

Small forwards of Campbell and Mansell look good.

And our class of 24, wow, Trainor, Lalor, Simms and Faull have all shown us more than I expected at this stage.

Plenty of good foundations there and more to come.

And wins, there gold at the moment, absolutely gold,

Reckon we are ahead of where we are meant to be , just look at the weagles, winless, now who would want to trade places with them at the moment.

Better ask Bakes and Jack what they think.
