Round 9 - Other Games

St Kilda's demise is an interesting one.

It's the second time in 10 years they have sacked a coach straight after making the finals and immediately gone backwards.

From my humble observations Riewoldt, Del Santo, Gram amongst others have gone backwards under Lyon. His coaching style is overly negative bordering on criminal because of the talent at his disposal. I wonder if we'll start to see a player exodus soon?
The undertaker Ross Lyon faces an uncertain future after sending the Saints further south under his reign but if he survives at season's end I'm sure he'll get rid of quite a few players.

Leysy reckons Its furphy that St Kilda has a talented list TF. They've finished 7th & 9th the past two years & have the most one-paced, no depth & pedestrian midfield in the league.

Year after year the media & pundits tip them & build there stocks up, but in actual fact they are playing to there abilities. Geez they were clear 2nd favs for the flag this year, unbelievable. Leysy's on record as having them finishing 10-14th on here & laid some of the short odds on betfair on them making the 8. Long may it continue.

Personally, Lyon doesn't wear all the blame.
In my experience, over the handful of years since the magical superdrafts of 2001 & 2002, where the Sainters had priority picks, the efforts of John Beveridge & his associates have been less than ordinary, to say the least.

But Lyon does wear some of it.

Drafting of kids, or at least the development of them, under Thomas was deplorable. Who has come through in past few years? They've got one up and comer kid and they dropped him last game! This is the rock on which they will perish - back to the future!

Heard Ross Lyon on radio today.

If he doesn't improve the Sainters by season's end he'll pull the plug.

Unless the're stupid enough to offer him more money. ;)

Given the Sainters historic patience ( :rofl), this silly admission, and the fact journos smell blood in the water, I reckon he would be favourite to be gone.

Thats saying something, because Mark Harvey is doing everything he can to be the odds on fav, but it sounds like he actually has genuine board support (and not the type we used to have at RFC :hihi)

I have heard of support for the coach but 10 years? :spin

As Fraudly pointed out today Lyon has made the mistake as him of topping up with crap and has only just realised the Aints aren't a genuine premiership chance and now need to rebuild. Well :doh

I wouldn't be making sounds like he was going to be coach for the next decade if I was the pres.
