I'm a bit surprised that there hasnt been a thread on this main board yet about one of our greatest ever players becoming Immortal.

GPB to his credit has posted one in the Journos board but I think Roycey deserves credit and comment here.

Congrats Roycey you immortal champion, thanks for being a Tiger.

Legendary comment when he was asked last nite if he watched the tigers play.

" I dont like watching losing sides"

The look on some of the players faces was very amusing!!!
Loser Duds!!!!

Spot on Dirk, Royce never pulled any punches!

If there is ever one player I would love to have seen play it would have to be Royce Hart. When I read the news today I changed my picture (on the left). I did get to meet him once and I'll never forget it. Guts, determination and success are words that sum up Royce Hart.

He really ripped into Terry Wallace last year and I think that hurt Terry, because when (imo) the greatest footballer to play the game talks, you lsiten and its a one way street. He was to the point. The players need to listen and understand what he is saying. He was a kid too at one stage, in his first year he was changing games, of course its a different era, but thats something that the kids we have need to understand. Terry Wallace needs to understand it also, you cant be forgiven because you have a young list. So did Essendon in 93. Geelong rebuilt, but they have made finals in the past few years apart from 2006.

Its a shame the best centre half forward of the past decade bashes his wife and takes drugs, but the greatest centre half forward of all time who is a gentleman has a smaller profile because of the era he played in.

He WAS and IS a champion!

He WAS and IS Richmond!

Watching him play would leave your heart in your mouth. He was courage on one leg. That 1973 preliminary final when he brought the side back from seemingly losing position, turning the Collingwood defence inside out and kicking some great goals was inspirational. THAT mark in the 67 Grand Final saved a premiership and all because a coach had faith in him.

The saddest thing I have ever seen in football was watching him walk off the ground a borken man. Had we had the medical ability we have now he would have played a few more years.

Same here Frostyballs, loved Royce, was Royce as a kid, now I'm walking like him ;D
Congratulations to the champion.
Get him back

Congratulations Roycey.

I get shivers up my spine thinking about his amazing skills. He won us so many games....easily the best player I've ever seen.

:clapThe reason I barrack for the Tigers.Watched him in four flags.Watched him limp off in 75.Had his knee held up we would have won three on the trot.Four if those smartarse blues hadn't won in 72.

I lived in Melbourne as a young child in the late 60s and early 70s and my dad took my brothers and me to every Tiger game. I had No. 4 on my Tiger jumper and can still remember the way Royce Hart could turn a game with his brilliance, fearlessness and class. What I remember most was his ability to get the ball even when he didn't mark it. I also remember his willingness to give little kids like me his autograph on many occasions. He was a true champion in every sense of the word. When we went to the footy my dad used to buy a tin of Kool mints and we would each get one every time Richmond kicked a goal (no wonder Royce became my favourite player!) It was a great strategy for turning us kids into rabid Tiger supporters, which does however have side effects when you become an adult and experience almost 3 decades of poor performances. The other downside was the dental bills... Anyway, the memories of watching Royce Hart were worth every cavity. Congratulations to the best CHF ever.

Well luckily the majority of Richmond supporters dont think like that dribbler.

Otherwise we wouldnt have a team to follow.

Now that would make you happy wouldnt it? ::) ::) ::)

Anyway, well done Roycy!! :clap

I was seven years old when I was dragged along to a Richmond game by a mate. I supported Carlton at the time. It was a game against Fitzroy and this was the first time I had seen Royce Hart. I came home and proudly told Mum and Dad that I wanted an RFC jumper with the No 4 on the back-must have broken their hearts-but they never said anything---wore that no 4 up until and after his retirement(all too soon)

Royce Hart remains the best Richmond footballer I have seen and the best centre half forward I have seen. Only Gary Ablett stands in his way as the best footballer I have seen. Immortal status well deserved. Fantastic news.Congratulations Royce!!
