Ruck Stocks in '08?

There's still one good 21yo ruckman out there, although he's only 197cm tall.

Hopefully we can pick him up in the ND.

Scott Meyer? If so I thought you considered him more a KPP.

to me king was an obvious pick. he would have cost nothing 67 83 so if injuries continue theres no real damage done. hes good for another couple of yrs this would have enabled the club to get some time into any young ruckman we might have picked up with our first 4 picks. 2 thru 35.and im not saying a ruckman would be taken with pick 2.

Jamar or Johnson might be out of contract at Melbourne and with Meesen now there might be looking for a new home. Surely if we are going to consider Guy Richards we could consider one of those 2.

Graham Polak can pinch hit in the ruck (while not the best is still an option) there are also some decent ruckmen entering the draft this year (Bellchamber & Simpson) & I would think Simpson could fall through to pick 18 and is 205 cm....

Angus Graham is a genuine ruckmen and is said to be the 2nd hardest worker at the club (next to Foley) so I would think his work rate could cause him to bump up to over 100 kg's in the pre-season....

You are a breath of fresh air in this dank dungeon Status Quo. Welcome to PRE.

Now you've done it Oldie. That has to be Avatar of the Year that one. Classic, Very funny.

I think the fine print in the Gardiner/King deal would be the contracts, claw. That's why the Saints had to take both. To wear the contracts. That makes sense.

It's a historic deal. Two players for pick #90. LOL

I have an inkling Trav Ronaldson will be our first 'mature rookie' if he is eligible.
Don't like it because it is a get out clause for not trading, or having neglected developing our own rucks, but I can see it happening. Can you?

We might draft one but he can't be expected to play anytime soon.
We better rookie one because we should have been for a few years now. If nothing else they are GOOD CURRENCY to buy back into the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the draft. They don't even have to be good. Look at the Blake obsession.
But good list management and RFC are mutually exclusive.

I am not sure about Guy, too injury prone, I don't know enough but the feeling I get is I hope we don't go with someone that is prone to injury.

Hopefully we will be able to have a choice of some quality players that might want to come to our club.

Checkers I heard Eade on SEN say they plan on playing him as a forward next year, they see him as a forward, played there as a junior, etc. He isn't going anywhere.

ronaldson is a poor mans ben hudson

nice and tough good long kick but 5 cms too short

I wouldnt say Ronaldson is a good kick, if he takes his time maybe but most of the time he gets it and kicks it as soon as he can and it goes no where.

No.
Not Scott Meyer.
Though he could be picked up for a song.

Your point on King is valid, but the way I understand this deal is that Geelong traded King to his preferred club for nothing (pick 90), as a way off thanking him for his services. With 2 -3 years left in him, I don't think he would want to come to RFC.
