Two games this weekend should clearly spell out if tanking is a happening thing, our game against Brisbane and the god-awful yawn-a-thon between Dawkthorn and Carlscum.

Do we tank to slip a spot or Brisbane to ensure they dont advance, does Carlscum tank to try and get first pick or the Dawks to keep a priority pick.

Both games should be a lack lustre affair but it should be obvious if someone is out there not trying to win.
Dawks cannot get a priority pick, they are already above the 16 points criteria. Would be good if the Scum were to win as that would take they away from priority picks.

One thing I reckon we can be confident about CMT is that any tanking that is done doesn't occur on the park.  The only time this can happen is at the selection table or in the coach's box.

spot on and correct.

Imagine if guys like jackson and roach and Howat got a game over the next 4 weeks. they won't be interested in the quality of the blokes available in the next draft.

They'll be playing frantic footy, desperate to make a good impression just in case it's them that makes way for the new draftee

If I was a Lions supporter I would be seriously wondering whether they laid down in the first half - that was the weakest opposition Richmond has faced in years.

I agree and that's why we shouldn't get carried away with the performance. The Lions were attrocious and clearly the worst opposition we've faced this season so far

After the win over Brisbane there is no point tanking (no matter how much I want to see Jack Riewoldt join the club) - the teams behind us won't be able to catch us (very hard run homes for them by comparison).

Must admit I am happy with tenth - ninth has too many recent memories. Let the catties or better yet the Dockers have it. They 're both supposed to be finals contenders ;D

Just watching how happy the Port players were to win last night proved to me that they weren't tanking. We must remember that AFL footballers are a very competitive breed, who, I believe, would be as determined to win in a backyard game of table-tennis, as that is their nature. These guys grow up wanting to be winners.

Great to see Plough read this thread ;D.Pretty happy that we attacked last night and played a very attacking running, carry the ball thru the midfield, long kicks into the forward line through the corridor.

I know the oppostition was not much but I hope that style of play is a base for the next three weeks and next season. At this early stage we will strike many counter punches against it but its the confidence and self belief of the younger players that will keep the attack up.

Great to watch young players like Raines, White, Lids, Tambling, Polo, Foley, Howat and Patto all have great nights and not afraid to attack the ball and break the lines.
