PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

With a young list such as ours, pace is something we should have an abundance of.
We all know about Deledio and Tambling, Jackson and Meyer have good pace as does Rodan and Tucky.
Tom Hafey was on KB's show this morning and they talked about the importance of running with the ball and bouncing it to break up the opposition's defence.

Apart from Deledio and Tucky I am finding it difficult to remember players running out of HB or the midfield and taking more than one bounce and creating a goal, (although Tivendale was able to run with the ball and then turn it over so many times).
With Rodan and Browny back there is no doubt they will help our cause, but to be a good team you need 4-5 fast players who can take on the opposition by running and bouncing the ball.

Brisbane and Port had them, West Coast, Stkilda and Adelaide have them now.

So many times this year we have come out of defence and fallen down across half forward because of poor delivery and poor decision making.
Joel Bowden as good at CHB as he has been often has noone to kick to at Half Forward. Not having a dominant CHF will hurt us as it has done for many years, until we can develop one the ball needs to be delivered further towards goal to the full forward line.
If a core group of players can hone their skills over summer and practice their bouncing and kicking at full tilt, Richo and Browny could again dominate the goalkicking next year and have us in the 8 for the whole year.

I'm sure Terry's intention was to become a fast team when he chose Tambling ahead of Lance Franklin and Jordan Lewis, but that will help the midfield.

Who can we rely on to use thier pace off the Half back line to break up opposition defences?
