Russell Crowe on the Cage

Haha Phantom I e-mailed Steven this morning too. Poor bloke will be feeling harassed. ;D

This is his reply

We have been in contact with Russell’s management over the last couple of years and hopefully he can get to a game later in the year. As you will appreciate he has a very busy schedule but he has certainly indicated his support for the Tigers – not just on Triple M today but on several previous occasions

If we play our cards right then the next time he king hits someone in a Coffs nightclub, throttles a film producer or throws a phone at some geezer in a hotel lobby, he'll be wearing some sort of Richmond paraphernalia.

Think of the free publicity! :thumbsup

It would be good PR to use Rusty as long as he doesn't sing or have a phone in his hand.

Isn't he about to have another baby? The club should sign the kid up as a baby member and have photos taken in his/her tigers jumpsuit.

I believe members will regret voting for Crowe.

Souths members still retain voting rights over club colors, nickname and location.

What exactly have the lost?

The club would have died if the vote had been no.

and if he truly barracks for us, how about a little bit of help on the side.

With all due respect, South Sydney were quite simply going to die without the privatisation idea. Richmond are not in that much trouble.

Also, I for one would be totally against privatising the Richmond Football Club as has now essentially happened with Souths.

Don't think anyone was suggesting the privatisation idea.  Nothing wrong with some PR work that might lead to Russ coughing up for a membership or two though.

I reckon it's a great idea to get him at the club in a Tiger jumper.

Ahh it was mainly the 'slip us a few dollars' line that got me ... Richmond are not anywhere near as impoverished as South Sydney are!

Certainly don't disagree it's a lost marketing op if we don't take the chance to get him to a game in a Richmond scarf. (Never seen him in a Souths jersey, only a scarf ;))

Great idea!

Pic of Russ with Lids and Richo, with Motorola sign in the background.
One makes mobile phones, the other makes phones mobile. :)

He had a superbox for the Carlton semi-final in 2001. Apparently he negotiated a deal with the attendant to allow him and his mates to smoke, $10 a cigarette. The attendant made a tidy sum.....

i was sitting infront of their superbox that day .and i'm not surprised the attendent made a tidy sum. shane warne & russell gilbert were in the box as well !
