I was realy spittin chips when Stewie departed the way he did.

In the video 'A Tiger Tale' - Our 1995 season under JN, Stewie featured throughout the season.

1996 really hurt, missed his running game and goals. :'(

I missed Swooper more than any other player.

Having Robert Walls as coach was the start of a disaster.

Maybe Leon Daphne & Tony Jewell should have given Kevin Morris a second interview then?

Mal 'Fat arse' Brown started all this.

Browny started nothing TF...I thought Northey was 'paranoid' more than anything and JN's girlfriend was in no position to comment.

Now that's a blast from the past TF.

Too right about M Brown igniting the flame, but the bloody problem is the pilot light went out after Northey departed. :hihi

Wasn't it Stewie and David Grenfold who had a Clash? ???

Yep, but Scottie Turner made sure he evened the score in the 1995 Semi.

A lot of fans reckon it was Maxfield who squared with Grenvold in that game, gus. But you're right. It was definitely Turner.  :)

Grenvold had broken Maxfield's jaw in the H&A game (a draw,  wasn't it?  :'() and Scottie broke Grenvold's jaw in the final. What a happy situation.   ;D

It looked like a relatively harmless side bump and not enough to do much damage but..

We have not had anyone who could do that since Scott retired. I think he is coaching in the western district now, pherhaps we should get him to come and give some 'know how' to Simmo among others.

Absolutely correct Dy'ere. No harmless bump Momentai, Big bad Scotties bony shoulder caught Grenvold right on the jaw, like a good boxers right cross. Leaves the brain spinning for hours after. Well done Scotty.

O'Donnell found out just how hard those bony shoulder were. ;D :D

Thats right, Sydney picked up Maxfield as an uncontracted player, they were allowed two that year. Richmond did not want to lose him.

Richmond recieved a compensation pick as a result and persauded Gaspar to leave for a better contract.

Maxfield arranged to leave contrary to club wishes it was not a swap.

yeah i remember an interview with someone from the richmond match comittee saying we already had one mark merenda type player so stewie wasnt required.  good call who was that  jackass can anyone recall

That might have been the media angle Jason, but for us to match Sydneys offer at the time would have made Stewie the highest paid player at Richmond and he was a long way down the line to demand that sort of status at Tigerland.

We spent years developing him for a good season or two to then have him then leave for money. I for one are glad he missed playing in a premiership.

The postive is if we kept Maxfield we would not have got *smile*, as he would have had pick 10+ in Pre season draft

Couldn't agree more. Deledio and Bill James are spot on. Stuart Maxfield is a traitor who made his name at Richmond after they put years into him and his way of thanking us was to go to Sydney because they were able to offer him slightly more money (despite the fact that Richmond's offer was very reasonable).

And Maxfield for Gaspar was not a straight swap - we got that pick in the preseason draft as compensation for Maxfield selling us down the river and then used it to get Gaspar. We weren't guaranteed to get Gaspar either, which is why we had to tell Melbourne all sorts of porkies about how much we could pay him so they'd drop out of the race.

If we're gonna start toasting Stuart Maxfield we may as well cut to the chase and set up a Brad Ottens appreciation thread right now. As far as him missing out on playing in a premiership goes, I'm with nick the tiger - couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.  ;D

GOOD RIDDANCE $TUART!!
