ive said this before if we were to say delist pettifer hyde tivva. and the picks we got for delisting them was say 58 74 and 90. if none of the picks make it we have lost absolutely nothing in the long term. if just one of them goes on to give us 7 or 10 half decent yrs and he contributes to finals winning teams we are miles in front.

Yes but if we cut the list players every year we are in fact only playing with a list of say 30 players.
Every club need back up players and to cut all these players it just makes us thin on the ground.
Yes one kid may make up you have to look at the risk and for most clubs the risk is to high.
This is why in a perfect world all clubs would still have a under 19 side and we could develop these players.
Maybe just maybe in 50 years we will once again have these sides back.

ah the list players. put simply no club carries list players for long.well except richmond of course we are the kings of it. when a club becomes good the first to go are the so called list players look at geelong. no a club should strive for just two types of player. decent afl standard player and potential afl standard player. when you decide there not decent afl standard you get rid of them

yeah they do your point being. look if given the choice between a list player and a kid 90% of the time i would take the kid.
eg pettifer list player. the club has morton brown connors are trying edwards all better options than pettifer . so pettifer is expendable its an area we have covered. you delist and try and grow the list with a potential DECENT afl player.

Few rumors poking around that Petts will be delisted by the second list lodgement (which from memory is next week).

Although I hate seeing a guy losing his job, a good move by the RFC if true.

you still miss the whole point as well its the processes we go thru or fail to go thru that has us where we are and where we have been since 1986. no one is arguing that 4th and 5th round picks are risky but they are better than psd and rookie selections because of the simple expediant of coming before.this and other reasons are obvious and have been explained ad nauseum.

no one is having a go at francis jackson as a recruiter im reasonably happy with him. francis would have a list of a couplle hundred kids for this coming draft. im sure francis would like to pit his skills in the coming draft and use picks 90 and a psd pick its the nature of recruiters, im sure theres kids beyond those picks that francis thinks are worth taking a punt on i certainly would hope so.
unfortunately its not what francis thinks or how high he rates players that determines the picks we use. that domain was previously walacces and millers now camerons and wallaces.and madcow i dont for a minute think francis jackson does not have a liason with both wallace and cameron how silly of you to think that way.. francis has already lost pick 42 i reckon he would be dirty on this.not because of who we took or used that pick on in a trade but because im 100% sure jackson would like to test himself out in the draft.

its funny you have point blank argued against 4th and 5th round picks and all of a sudden your for them what is it madcow for or against or is it just with reservations depending on what francis says.

finally for what reasons did you not want pick 74 and a psd spot made available you never have said other than if the club says so im for it.

Errrrrrr why wouldnt i have faith in Jackson and Co.They are the ones with all the info on the kids and not to mention seeing them first hand.Fair enough you have your reasons on the way it should be done however its pretty easy when you dont have the ins and outs of what perameters the football dept has to run with in.There are things called the TPP and Salary cap Claw.Something you and i wouldnt know the situation of.We are still in a financial hole[made even worse with no Sponsor],all these things have to come into consideration amongst future contracts[lids,Cotch etc] the GC threat.
At least we have opened up the possabilty of using pick 74 with the delisting of Gouridis.
