St Kilda has announced a lucrative sponsorship deal with fast food chain KFC for this Saturday’s match against Richmond at the MCG.
Under the deal, the club will be named St KFC and be known as the Colonels.
They will also adjust their club colours, wearing a predominantly red jumper with white detail.
St KFC President Rod Butters would not be drawn on the value of the sponsorship but said he hoped the St KFC Colonels could be an ongoing initiative beyond the 2006 season. “There’s a good fit between the ideals of KFC and St KFC, and it’s a finger-lickin’ good deal for the club,” he said.
St KFC coach Grant Thomas said he was a fan of KFC and looked forward to “a zinger or two” after Saturday’s match. “The players are too,” he added, “but they’ll have to be pretty quick because I get pretty hungry after a match.”
