Hi guys.
I apologise for the short time frame here, and I know it will take a lot to get this game off the ground but I thought I would post the idea for a forum game between our 2 boards for the 15th of January.
First I will make one thing clear. Barks4eva is staying well away from this thread. I know the anamosity that flared up last time, so I am organising this game myself. So there should be no bad blood. He has assured me that he will not be visiting the site, or making any suggestions to you guys etc.
I understand if you guys are uneasy about the idea for one of the games after what happened against essendon and with the last one we organised and thats fine, I was just hoping we could move on as these games are well worth the effort and it would be good to get something organised after the hiccups in the past.
We have organised games with Carlton and Hawthorn already for this summer and both games went well, everyone having fun on the day.
Essendon, Collingwood, Melbourne and now the Kangaroos have also played, or are about to play games. So its a concept that is being embraced by others and we would like to get you guys involved in a game with us as well.
I apologise that this is close to christmas and everyone is busy, but we will still have a few weeks after new year to get it off the ground if people are keen.
The game would be at Glenferrie Oval and the starting time can be negotiated depending on the temperature that day, and what people prefer.
Here is a run down on whats involved:
4x25 minute quarters. (times negotiable also)
umpire provided by one or both boards. (both preferably) saintsational has a poster who umpires all our games, but the opposition usually provides one as well for "balance"
Anyone is welcome to play. no discriminations against sex, age, size or ability.
If people want to play. they are in.
Just bring either a richmond jumper or even a yellow t-shirt. I would also suggest boots and runners as it depends on the hardness of the ground. Also plenty of water, and sunscreen is a must.
If anyone has a decent footy, also bring that along if you like. Usually a few people bring footy's and we pick the best one to use in the game.
We also have a bit of a tradition of holding a bbq after the game where both teams can mix and have a few beers. There is a barbeque area just behind the ground so its pretty convenient.
These days are a great way for people to meet some fellow forumites, as well as having a fun game of footy. or even just having a laugh watching others.
Hope we can make this one work. They are great fun, and it would be good to meet everyone on the 15th at Glenferrie.
Cheers!!
