What a basket case club we have. In a week where the reigning premiers blood 3 rookies, we lose 3 in a row but react to our losing ways by yet again bringing in tired old hacks that have let us down time and time again, year after year. Will anything ever…ever ..ever… change at RFC ?

Somebody posted on another thread that Danny Frawleys undoing will be that he has only coached for the moment, that he has not developed a team, nor with our hapless Recruiting Manager Greg Beck has he brought enough talented young blood to the club, preferring instead to put his faith in completely overrated players that are either already at our club, or ones from other clubs. This is absolutely spot on. I’ve been challenging the club on this matter for 6 years now.

I’ve said this before on this web-site: why the hell can’t we give Schulz a go ? All this crap about not being mature enough etc. etc. is just that ….CRAP ! He’s 6ft 5 or so, well-built and mega mobile. He’s a top 20 pick for heavens sake. But what do we do ? We bring in bloody Duncan Kellaway. A guy who is at the end of his career and riddled with injuries, but more importantly is the worst skilled footballer in the AFL by so far it is not funny. He’s been crucifying us with his limitations for years !

Nearly every other club in the AFL recruits and develops young players better than us.

We just suffocate kids at RFC. Look at Coughlan. Until we had a heap of midfield injuries last year, our deadsh*^t coach had him languishing in the reserves despite him being BOG nearly every week. If it wasnt for those injuries, Coughlan wouldnt be the asset to us that he is right now.

This week is exactly the sort of garbage that RFC has been serving up to us for years and why our membership is so low. Everyone has just had a gutful of RFC trotting out these bloody losers.

Kellaway, Biddiscombe and Pettifer. What a joke….. if Nicholls is fit, why is Pettifer getting a run ? Even if Nicholls isnt fit, what about McGrath ? Enough crap about him being too skinny, attitude etc. Just give him a bloody go for heavens sake. What do we hope to achieve with these blokes ? WE ARE GOING NOWHERE WITH THESE DUDS ! And if anyone says that we just dont have anyone else to pick from, then that justifies my statement that we have not developed our playing list well enough the last few years.

I have got my eyes fairly trained on Greg Miller. At years end, if he doesnt make the hard decisions (but easy and all too obvious to most) that have to be made, then expect us to linger on in mediocrity for years to come.

We are the laughing stock of the league. Still.

Nicholls and McGrath are both injured Redford. There are stuff all players to choose from.
Maybe people might agree if we had a full list available to choose from, but it's not the case and it's becoming a bore hearing people call for wholesale changes when there are only about 25 players to pick from.

The worry here is Johnson and Fiora haven't been declared fit yet either. Look forward to todays training reports.

I would have preferred Vardy for Pettifer.

Have a good one this week and come back soon Dutchy, we need you.

No offence Rosy, but that is just garbage and I wont accept that excuse at all.

Q: What is wrong with Schulz. A: Nothing. He has no injury. He is named for Coburg this weekend.

I know you like Kellaway but he is so inept in the most fundamental parts of the game i.e. basic skills like kicking and handballing that most good work that he does happen to perform is always negated by errors or by other players having to make concessions and being put under the pump by him. His skills are just downright embarrassing. He should not be playing AFL football.

What about Hyde ? He is named for Coburg as well ? Even an underdone Dragacevic ! Lets see what they can do, they’ve hardly played at all. We know what Kellaway, Biddiscombe and Pettifer are going to offer.

Again, as I said, even taking into account our injuries, if we were serious about our playing list, then we wouldn’t have to be drawing on these names. That is to say, they wouldnt be on our list at this point in time and we’d be looking at different names instead.

Anything is better than seeing these tired failures re-appear and it is boring to a) see Richmond trot this crap out time and time again and b) then have the club and other people try and defend their position when they do.

23 years of failure.

(Id prefer Vardy over Pettifer as well.)

c) read posts about whose a dud
d) to read posts about Frawley and our young kids getting a game

Gee it's a tough one Eddie but I'll lock in C only because it has been done to death more than D.

TG YOU HAVE WON A WEEKEND AWAY FROM THE MESSAGE BOARD! FOR THE NEXT 2 DAYS YOU WON'T HAVE TO READ POSTS LIKE THIS ONE!

Seriously, I'm not going to be here for the next few days so try not to drive one another insane while I'm gone. And for those going to the game, cheer loudly and perve on cogs for me :rollin

I agree Redford and said as much on another thread, the 3 hacks they included are a joke. Kellaway's skills would nort be regarded in the school yard

im afraid ill have to agree with laff (my god did i say that) and redford on this one, very very very disappointing team selection this week, our season is on the line and we get 3 hacks included and our emergency list is a disgrace.

Exactly right Redford. As I've said previously its becoming more and more obvious that Frawely is only concerned about his weekly pay cheque in that he wants to scrape and grind away wins at the expense of blooding in young players and developing the team. If anyone disagrees with this I challenge them to prove me wrong.

Carlton are full of young skinny kids - I'm sure big Schulz can hold his ground against them.

Hurry up - the bandwagon is becoming pretty full ATM.

Re:Harry's Challenge

Harry

I challenge you to provide proof of your own ?

I am not saying it is incorrect but I have seem little but subjecture and opinions to back up this claim.

We dont know the full story, but you may be right...or not.

Lets Roar

Redford, while most of your points are spot on and shared by most tiger supporters including myself, in most cases there are mitigating circumstances in who the club selects.

At the moment, the injured list includes;
Nicholls, McGrath, Cambell, Johnson, Blumfield, Mills, Gaspar with players such as Holland and Dragacevic coming back from major injury and still not quite ready to resume, which leaves us 9 players down from a squad of 36 senior players.

Of that 27 players, we have blokes like Hilton, King, Hall, Fiora who are down on form which doesn't leave much in terms of rich pickings at the selection table.

Now it has been mentioned before that the current admin is in some ways paying for the sins of the past admin which set up some ridiculous contracts. Until we can rid ourselves of these players/contracts it will be very hard for the club to move forward in any great way.

Clubs such as Collingwood and Brisbane have been able to control there contracts well in the past few years and as such have much better lists than we do. In this context, we need to give Miller and co. a few years to set up a list which is able to be competitive week in week out and cover its injuries much better than we currently do.

I know that all tigers supporters hate being told to be patient as we have been patient for 23 years. But as we finally have some administrators with some real football brains, and not numbskulls of previous years, we can look forward with some optimism to having a much better list with players who have the ability to make a contribution to the RFC, and not hacks like Hudson, Mills etc.. who clog up the list and offer nothing.

To this end, Danny's request for players will be met with Miller playing Devils advocate rather than yes men just agreeing to the selection of washed up hacks and no talent skinny kids.

Now I don't want to sound like I am telling how to suck eggs, but Danny and Co. and are a bit hamstrung at the minute.

Diggler & I are driving the bus Harry...we predicted his down fall 4 years ago......shame we had to wait so long

We really should save some seats in the back for some of the passangers we've got in the team. ;D

It's not an excuse, it's FACT. The reason we are in this position is another story but the fact is there are few options available.

Richmond players in the team for Coburg this week.

Hilton-Dropped from seniors
King- Dropped from seniors

Holland-Not ready to return from injury
Dragicevic- Not ready to return from injury. You guys say play him. He's not even able to train. It would be criminal to risk injury to him again by playing him unfit.

Schulz-I'd prefer to put faith in the club than the baggers as to when Jay should play.

That leaves only 2 players who could have come in.

Hyde
Vardy

I don't know the story with Chris. The game he played and was dropped next week for Pettifer was better than Kayne usually does anyway.

I wish Royce would be given a fair go but who am I to know better that the selectors.

There's not much difference with bringing in bidders or the two who missed. Duncan would have been in from week 1 if he was fit.

No offence to you either, but you can see one of us was talking garbage and it wasn't me, ha. ;D

The sack spud express has been deleyed and will now be arriving at the end of the season.

Richmond apologies for any inconvenience.

The Richmond buses have a very unpredictable schedule of arrival and departure. Should we lose tomorrow expect the 6 oclock quadruple decker sack the spud bus to be arriving at punt road.

another snapshot of passionate opinions from 18 months ago .some interesting predictions in this thread!!!!!!
