I liked this concept at the time and I think it could really turn into something special. But geez, why do we have to do it with the Pies? I understand all the financial reasons, and I understand that it will mean we play them twice every year but doesn't the Collingwood Football Club get enough in terms of blockbusters and 'special' football days. It would mean that three of their first 10 matches each year are huge - Season Opener, Anzac Day and Queens Birthday. Where is the equality in that for the rest of comp in terms of money earnt and media coverage?

Wouldn't you look forward to Belting the Scum first up every season? :D

Problem is an individual is intellegent where a crowd is not. Therefore a large proportion of the population stupidly barack for the scum. Unfortunately if you want a piece of the action you have to deal with them and Eddie, love him ... well hate him is really the only option, is very good at promoting his own self interests, one of which is the scum.

Lets get our own team humming and see if we can't start drawing some crowds similar to scum. Then they can all come banging on our door to ensure two games against us at the 'G'.

The time is ripe to overtake Essendon as the 2nd Victorian Heavyweight club.

Playing and beating Collingwood at least twice a year is the best way back to where we once belonged.

This is the only way to improve our MCG deal.

Our stadium agreement can only become more favourable if Collingwood give up something. They won't do this unless there is something valuable for them thrown in. The round 1 opening blockbuster interests them and they will be willing to give up some of their sweetheart deal to get it.

Basic negotiation techniques. If you want someone to give you something, give them something they want also. It is pretty clear that Richmond and Collingwood will have more currency than Carlton and Essendon next year, hence they will have to get into bed with us again, unless they want to practice necrophilia!
