SEASON OVER

Thomas was not good this morning. Misses 5m handballs. Dea was good, Miles was good. Petterd was better than most. The rest stunk.

Generally enjoy your posts Carts but you are way off beam here.

The list has too much rubbish; 100% bona fide A grade garbage.

Shankwards, Grigg, Hampson, Vickery, Houli, Chaplin, Morris. There are 7 that are walk up starts every week. Rubbish footballers all of them. Hardwick LOVES them all. That's a third of the team.

Then we have blokes like Jackson & Rance who play key roles. They have good attributes but also make too many basic errors. Foley, Newman and King are years past their best but Hardwick would play Newman and King every week if fit.

Many youngsters are treading water or going backwards. Batchelor, Helbig, O'Hanlon, all have been around long enough to make an impact but it looking highly likely that none of them are good enough. We all know talls take longer but the jury is well and truly out on our young talls. Griffiths is getting a go but geez his intensity is lacking. Elton and McBean are miles off yet and who knows if they will ever make it.

McIntosh is in his second year and hasn't even looked like cracking it for a senior game. Grimes is massively overrated and is playing reserves. Panic merchant with sh!t skills. Dea has been around for 5 years and is not good enough to get a regular go in our sh!t side.

Then you have the recycled players. Petterd poorly skilled, Knights gets injured walking to the shops, Thomas is as bad a kick at AFL level as you'd ever see, Aaron Edwards was never that good to start with, Stephenson nowhere near good enough.

That's 26 players on a list of 40 odd that are either not up to it or have valid question marks against them. Hopefully some of those young players will still be able to step up and make the grade but regardless, the list is anything but in fine shape.

good post.

I am more bullish about the list but concede that improvement has not come as quickly as hoped this year.

doesn't help when three of your talls (Vickery, Chaplin, Hampson) may as well not be out there.

Someone tell me and I am 47 when was the last time we came back from behind after half time let alone 3 qtr time

The last one I remember was round 14, 2010 against he Swans at the G.

Nason was everywhere it the wet and Collins survived brain transplant on the sidelines to come back out take the winning mark / goal.

Ridley I agree with you and made mention the similar things you brought to this topic.

I know people will say well look what we achieved last year. Half a game from top 4.

That's the same the people at the club thought from coach down that we were not far from it. Unfortunately a year in the life of following the Tigers is , over the last 30 years we have made finals 3 times and every year after we have failed to follow it up again. Reason , we, players think they are better, don't work hard enough , the most glaring one though is the recruitment if recycles the following year, topping up and expecting to follow up again. The indictment I feel, coach and recruiters should be blamed , the recruitment if only one junior being Lennon.

The list has holes on every line from back to forward. Holes.

We need to rebuild . The next 2 -3 years should be all about getting as many talented juniors as we can. We have to recruit players for every line. I'm prepared to cop that pain if I see this happen.

Unfortunately like the coach who is contracted fir another two years, we have Chaplin, Houli, grigg, Hampson on contracts. We can't sack the lot of them. That is the cold hard facts of the matter. We are hamstrung now with contracts. To pay people out will cost us millions. We just can't do that. Unfortunately .

I don't know what else we can do.

Season for me was over a long time ago. I called it early and I wish I hadn't but following the Tigers gives you no confidence.
Today I made such an effort but in the back if my mind I had a sick feeling this insipid performance would happen.

At the end of the day Hardwick can't kick the goals for them. 9-20 is bad kicking. Convert half of those points to goals and we win. Maybe. Maybe not. From the outset I knew and could see the players were not on.

We may have no choice but to expect pain. Next week against the GWS may show how far we have gone backwards.

I'm not happy too. Devastated and sick today. Sacking Hardwick will not be the answer now. The players as usual will get away with murder and they are the ones after today that have to look at the mirror and say "did I give 110% and left no stone unturned?

Players always get away with things too much. I'm bit happy with Dimma too but today I blame 19-20 players.

Thanks I do remember in the wet at the end some 4 years ago what a successful club we follow

I like what Adelaide did and drop Reilly on 199 games, they bounced back and beat collingwood

We will not do that

I well remember Collins courage and we swapped that for Grigg

The equation is fairly simple if the pundits are right and 12 wins could get a final, we have to win (at least) 10 of our last 15 games.

The good news ...
* we play GWS and St Kilda twice
* we have another game against Brisbane
* we have a game against Melbourne

The not so good news ....
* two games against Sydney
* one against Port
* one against Freo

The toss up's that could go either way ....
* two games against Essendon
* one against North
* west coast over there

So I am happy to have a stab at this .......

Rich vs Melb MCG W
GWS vs Rich SPO W
Ess vs Rich MCG L
North vs Rich ES W
Rich vs Freo MCG L
Rich vs Syd MCG L
Saints vs Rich ES W
Rich vs Bris MCG W
Rich vs Port ES L
WCE vs Rich PS W
Rich vs GWS MCG W
Rich vs Ess MCG W
Adel vs Rich AO W
Rich vs Saints MCG W
Syd vs Rich ANZ L

Not much margin for error even if 12 wins makes it :-\
you want to change this

Put away your Nostradamus Predictions away, your taking about the Richmond football club.
The only thing guaranteed is FAILURE!

I admire your optimism but how do we win a game when we play like we did yesterday
Of course it's possible - but our players haven't got anything 'winning' between the ears at the moment
Until that happens is lose, lose and lose again

If people here want to win games from here to earn respect back, they are more delusional than I thought

Season over by May 2014. WOW......but wait, meaningless wins to come

Only thing to look forward to is getting some high end talent via the draft

They won't take that away from us, surely?

think I'll be spending more time in the juniors and draft threads now.

bring on the draft.
