It would most likely be only be one game people.  Launceston is only an hour away, you can fly over and back in a day.

Being originally from Tassie I know that Tasmania is an untapped market that Richmond have sadly let slip if you ask me.  They should have been really pushing their product in the nineties when they had the Gale Boys, Richo, Bond and Harrison (have I missed anyone?)

So my answer to the question is Yes Yes Yes.

PS:  We claim Thomas Roach as ours too  ;D

As a one off due to fixturing hassles with the G next year, but other than that NO. I see Freo and West Coast are already sniffing around trying to get a Vic team to play at the house of pain because of the possibility that the G won't be available.

Yes, yes and yes to a home game in Tassie because (a) I'm a Tassie girl and would love to see a 'home' game in the state, and (b) the game is now national, (although I understand Victorian parochialism about footy, it long ago ceased to be the VFL, so Victorian fans don't 'own' it anymore. Nothing will drive this home more than when the first GF is played outside of Victoria which is not a matter of 'if' but 'when').

Go Toigs, a Grand Final outside of Victoria? Hmmmm...won't happen, at least not in my lifetime and probably a good many people younger than me. I believe that there is a deal with the MCC to play the Grand Final at the G for some time into the future and we've seen how the MCC guard their deals. The other thing is that once the redevelopment is done there is no ground in this country that will hold upwards of 100,000. They only shoehorned that many into Stadium Australia because of the Olympics and I can't see 100,000 Sydneyites turning up to ANY other sports event.

Good points there CTT, but MCC deals aside, I wonder what will happen when we get a WCE v Dockers GF, or (even worse) a Crows v Power GF. If I was a Sandgroper or a Souf Australian I'd be seriously unimpressed at having to trek across to the MCG, and let's face it, who else outside of those states would want to see a GF between these teams anyway. The thought of a GF between the Crows and the Power actually makes me feel a bit queasy.

I wonder if any of the other 'big 4' melbourne teams are thinking bout this?
Bummers, Wobblers, Blue filth?

I dont think so!

By choosing to play any home game away, the RFC will elect to relegate itself to an also ran club, such as the WB, Dees, Saints, Dawks etc...

Is that what we want?

I'd say for sure to sell a game against Power/Crows/Freo/WC down in Tassie but not to sell a home game to Brisbane like the Dees do.

Absolutely not,

Not under any circumstances !!

Do not sell out to popularism or for a cheap buck.

The precedent would be set and the AFL get another leverage point should RFC need financial assistance.

No.

i completely agree. it will alienate members including me! let the other clubs do it but not us. even if they have to draw us a game at optus oval or skilled stadium... at least we'd be able to get to the game...

This might be of interest to some to read back on considering selling a home game or two has recently become a topical issue again.

I reckon a home game in Tassie would still be a good thing if we could have it

The tigers have a strong link with Tasmania

If we could get the tassie government to give us some bucks it would be great
Hawks wouldn't like it though

I'd prolly go down for the game if possible (as I am from Tassie originally)

Should have gone to Tassie when we had the chance. This has been a gold mine for the hawks. RFC = never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

I've always been wildly against ... But if it were to happen, why sell a game somewhere cold and *smile*?

Sell one to the GC so I can at least get some winter sun if I'm forced to travel 1,000's of kms to watch a home game >:(

Haha mel my ground breaking ideas biggest detractor friend....knew I'd see you here.  How are the Hawkers going in Tassie?  I was a woman before my time really. If only they'd listened.  :hihi

Selling home games is very topical this week. You'd have to be hiding under a rock if you've been on PRE and not noticed. :hihi
