Selwood/ Headland - sam newman you tool! [Merged]

Re: sam newman you tool!

He's going to far to say the (alleged)selwood sledge was OK but i do agree you can't ban sledging all together like that idiot Lyon says!!
Political correctness is just becoming a joke!

so it`s ok to tell someone you`ve committed a child sex offence on their 6 year old daughter is it?

You and i know it is not true so yes and if Headland did not know that he is a *smile*.

No its not but Headland should have got on with the job of playing footy.Go through other channels if he wants to but he is part of a team.

Of course he's soft. He's as soft as they come. The strong would have taken the insult (highly doubtful that it went like Headland said anyway IMO) and used it as motivation for the rest of the game, not used it as a reason to blow their top and give their team a substandard performance for the rest of the game and risk being suspended for weeks (which should have happened). Revenge for what was allegedly said would have been far better served when Selwood had the ball and a big hit on him would have given his whole team momentum.

Great post patsy. It is Headlands history prior to Saturday that does his cause no good. He has a history of losing it and was very lucky with the Pettifer incident.

He has actually created a fantastic precedent for himself. If reported, all he has to say in the future is someone had a go at his daughter/tattoo/family.

Problem is jack black he's set a whole precedent for every player in the AFL to use that argument. :P

Re: Adam Selwood/Des Headland

Wouldn't mind owning a tattoo joint in one of the capital cities.

dunne and co set the precedent, it is a testimony to the game that it thrives with such appalling administration

Re: sam newman you tool!

I think Newman was right also I think Headland is full of crap or just misheard Selwood I very much doubt he would of said that & sledging occurs at all level of sport & if you have made it to AFL or the top level & can't take it then I think it's pretty soft!!

I'll say it one last time, Des Headland isnt soft. He isnt a cry baby, soft people like to do make complaints and take action after the game the "smart" way.

Because they dont have balls to risk anything, if it be being hit or missing matches. He didnt take it and the soft bloke was the one with his head rammed into the ground.

What if it's a spectator this week - are you saying the player should have carte blanche to punch, maim and potentially kill someone over words? The person on the punching bag end may morally deserve it (up to a point), but sorry, Headland had to go.

Perhaps he's a bit smarter than he seems - he's thrown plenty of punches lately without reprisals.

Re: sam newman you tool!

Newman is one of the biggest idiots in football but even I had to agree with him tonight.

The sooner people start standing up to the PC crowd the better.

Re: Adam Selwood/Des Headland

You dont say that anywhere, if its a spectator yes, you dont expect that comment from anyone. For all thats gone on with priests, stalkers, childporn, this isnt a joking matter, this isnt a light comment.

Its a serious issue, you dont expect anyone to say this. Simple as that, Selwood deserved more than just what he copped.

I do agree that headland had to go, but he knew that and didnt care because you dont joke about peoples children. This was a low act by selwood.

Re: Adam Selwood/Des Headland

Yeah it's pretty low. Word would get around on the football grapevine about a player using those sort of comments, but in this instance we've had trial-by-media so it's stirred up public opinion.

I once heard a story that a past Richmond premiership player (one of my favourite players as a lad) would put his fingers somewhere they're not supposed to go, then waft them under his opponent's nose in order to put him off his game. Most people would also consider this to be disgusting and low. Is this any better? Worse? Or just different?

It's testing the limits, like Craig Kelly pinching Dunstall, or Kretiuk repeatedly slapping Lloyd's injured hand, or probably a dozen other things that have been forgotten by now.

i think sam is awesome and usually agree with what he says, but he has just come out on the footy show and said it is ok to say to an opposition player that their 6 year old daughter is a s#** and that they had sex with her. he reckons it is ok because it`s only a joke.

a joke eh?

Listen up everyone. You can all say anything you like to Sam newman because it is only a joke.

i'm sure Sam will be doubled up with laughter. ::)

Re: sam newman you tool!

I don't reckon he's watched more than five entire games in the past ten years. Already knows everything.

He's been wasting our time for thirty years.

Correct.
