Sam Newman is on the ball! Des Headland was SOFT! I'm sure in Sam's playing time alot worse would have been said!
What happens on the field stays on the field...

Racism and religous taunts have been taken away, which is fair enough as globally it is a very sensitive
But go to any schoolyard in australia and im sure u'd find just as offensive sledging happening everyday, and not even school kids react like Headland.
People have got to realise in todays society no matter what the provokes the reaction, the reaction is unacceptable as there are proper pathways to deal with these things. Say Headland smacks Selwood and Selwood hit his head on the way down and died, what would every1's reaction be?

I believe all people who make jokes or tolerate concepts of 'children' and 'sex' are probably not far from going all the way.

How does any of this differ from the banter that we as spectators give to all persons on the field, our own, opposition and umpires....the hypocrisy displayed in this thead is appalling. Verbal taunts are just that, a taunt...if you react then the other has achieved the aim...if persons don't have the maturity or sense of self worth not to react....well then who is the person that need be looked at?

Only the person making such a comment really knows the essence of it, everyone else is interpreting without the complete picture. Best to leave the sledger to resolve the comment with his conscience.

not just headland is soft
AFL is turning soft, and I for one am getting quite sick of it.
I would much rather go and watch a local match where there are contests, players hard at it, and also sledging rather than watch 'professionals' run around getting uncontested possessions and whinging about stupid things!

Selwood knew it was one word against another, I dont think that Headland would joke or try and use this is an escape from suspension.
People doubted if the thing ever happened because they didnt trust Headland, but even Selwood admitted to it, not entirely, because he isnt a man. He doesnt have respect.

Greek Tiger, you keep assuming Selwood said those comments. Selwood says he didn't, the tribunal dropped the charges, so what proof do you have that Selwood said what Des thinks he did and not what Selwood claimed he said ?

I hate it when the crowd on the footy show bursts out into applause when Sam for once acts serious & comments on a subject, but he thinks thinks his opinion is the only one! He is a goose & it is others who make the footy show worth watching!
