PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

I have just been thinking that Selwood staying at Brisbane is the best thing that could happen for Richmond as far as the National Draft is concerned. It means that, as the media has put it, "midfield starved" Carlton and Collingwood are more likely to choose a midfielder with their early picks rather than a KPP. All it takes is one of those clubs to pick a small where, if they hadv'e been getting Selwood in the PSD, they would've picked a tall and it gives us one more quality tall to choose from, giving us a greater scope of choice. I could see the draft order going like this -

1. Carlton - Murphy
2. Collingwood - Ellis
3. Hawthorn - Kennedy
4. Carlton - Hurn
5. Collingwood - Jones
6. Hawthorn - Ryder
7. Essendon - Swallow
8. Richmond - your choice of Clarke, Dowler or Hughes.

Maybe I'm dreaming but I certainly think that while Selwood's decision may hurt us in the PSD it only helps us in the ND. It may also mean that more clubs use more ND picks as there will be little quality left in the PSD. Thoughts?
