Quote from TW: "We had a few senior players today who were still down. Most of our younger boys did the job they needed to do. There were a few senior boys who need to lift their game. It's only round two, they've got plenty of time to do it, but we need some more solid performances from a couple of those guys."

Who do you think TW is referring to?

Johnson, Tuck, Richo, P Bowden?

I thought Johnno was quite good.  Richo didn't have his best game but he still gave it 100%.  Kayne was down and he'd be considered a senior player now.  I think Terry would want more from him, it's unusual for him not to trouble the scorekeepers at all as was the case this week. Paddy wasn't at his best really.  If a few of those lift and the kids keep improving as they have been we'll become a very competitive unit this season.

Terry would be referring to his individual player graphs before making such a hypothesis.

I think TW has raised the bar this year, expecting more from his senior group.

"Most of our younger boys did the job they needed......". Does this mean that there are young one's who need to lift their game?

Aaaah forget it, I don't think TW is speaking in riddles anyway!

Interesting comment from TW in view of his prior comments that we will not challenge for the flag until 2011. I think that TW has seen the light and understands that our senior players cannot lead us to the flag.

Richo may be a great player but his lack of football intelligence will never lead us to the flag. Would Matthew Lloyd kick 2 goals, 1 point and 2 no scores from 5 shots at goal? Would LLoyd allow Bolton to drift forward to score a goal? (Sydney match) Would LLoyd pass to 2 unmarked players late in the last quarter and miss the target? (Carlton match). The truth is NO!!! Can we win a flag with Gaspar's inability to hit targets with hand or foot? Can we win a flag with Johnno's lack of leadership? Is Tivendale a premiership player? The answer is NO!!!!

The quicker we can look to a future with these underachievers the quicker we can progress.

Not many players are as good at stopping their opponent as Gas is. By all accounts Johnno is a great leader. I wouldn't know but the players seem to think so and that's what counts. Tivva would be deadly in a premiership. I think he plays on confidence a bit and he'd be right in his element. I think he'd be very exciting to watch on the last game in September.

Does LLoyd ever venture outside the 10m square when his side needs a target up the ground?

Fair dinkum Rosy, Tiva has a shocking record in big games. I think if we made it to the last game in September, he'd be credited with the first man made burrow to get himself out of the ground. Rabbit in the headlights stuff.

He's been good in 2 games this year, but his record when the games are high stakes leaves a lot to be desired.

I'd say these guys are down a little on previous seasons form at this stage.

Sugar, Richo, J Bowden, Tuck & Pettifer. Just about all of them at this point. :-\

We simply cannot afford to have our senior players down during games. Have a look at what happened to the bulldogs v the crows. 6 of their senior players had stinkers and they got hammered. Their kids were affected as a result. The leaders need to show the way so the kids can gain confidence and take some risks.

I'd say that's a fairly accurate depiction. I'd add Paddy too, although I think Paddy's problem is where do we play him? No point having him down back if Moore, McGuane and Gaspar are all doing their job.

I find it interesting that Richo and Petts are being singled out here. Richo has kicked 5 goals in 2 games and should have been given a raft of frees against Bolton on Sunday, plus his workrate has been phenomenal in both games. Petts kicked 4 goals against Carlton and did hurt his knee against the Swans. Joel was better than the first game, but Patrick needs to take a look at himself.

People are being way too general in the criticism of soime players.

Gaspar: Was awesome on Hall one on one, but woefull disposing of the ball. We need him now, but long term we can't have this disposal level.

Tivendale has come of age. Excellent player. Much like J Bowden a few years back.

K Johnson: Excellent tagger. Not a leader. Does belong on the team, but will never spark a revival on field when needed.

I don't think his inaccuracy calls for him to be tagged as having a lack of football intelligence. AAMOF I would say Richo is probably one of the more intelligent footballers at Richmond.

IRT Topic

I can't really think who TW would be referring to. It's probably just that one or two of the seniors did not fulfill a specific task that they were assigned but still managed to make their presence known to the spectators.

Pettifer kicked 4 last week and was off the ground for long periods of time on saturday after that knee injury.

I highly doubt that Wallace was referring to him.
