Today's performance at Telstra Dome, clearly illustrates our list is extremely slow, with skills very sloppy;

I, like everyone else Skills, like alliteration.

we've been called, slow before, and sloppy skills is our mantra...but sexy???

Where/who was sexy??. You mean Big sexy? I thought he'd left.

Are you referring to the Big O?
A friend of mine had a Tiger doll she named after Brad - She calls it sexy... I thought he was slow.

Agreed. Most posts here have Chicken Little written all over them - "the sky is falling, the sky is falling!"

I think, on the TV scoreboard at 3/4 time, there was a 2 word comment for each side.

For the Hawkers it said - Hard tackling.

For the Tigers - Sloppy skills

But they did say, verbally, that the Tiger 3rd qtr was an improvement.

It was a very ordinary performance but I'm not surprised given the team we put out there and the fact I think we will really struggle this year. Once I saw Tom Roach on Williams I thought the writing was on the wall. Unfortunately for Tom he's not up to AFL standard; struggles with VFL standard. He was only recruited as the Messiah wanted a feel good story at the end of 2003 after we'd lost umpteen in a row and to divert attention from the fact that he'd completely cocked up by removing the termination clause from Frawley's contract. Tom Roach wouldn't be playing AFL football at all if he wasn't Michael's son.

To continue to "S" theme: Slow, skilless, stupid, soft. Fair dinkum, how many times can Richmond players run with the ball straight into a tackle or into severe pressure?? Rodan, Hartigan, the Bowdens were the prime culprits. How many times can they handball straight to a team mate who is not only stationary, but also has an opponent right on his hammer??? The vast majority of the RFC list is completely devoid of a football brain. They try to follow a game plan but when it seems that plan may not be the right option in a particular instance, they don't have the smarts to work out a better alternative. Unfortunately it's something that is innate and difficult to teach. I can't work out why we continually recruit dumb footballers.

Our skill level remains a joke. Half our list can't spot a target from 20 metres under no pressure. Deledio continues to embarrass his team mates with his skill level and decision making. He is just pure class. He hasn't got many mates at Richmond.

Great post Ridley.

As you say even though you might have a decent game plan in place you still need smart players to execute it and/or try other things if it doesn't fall your way. How about we start recruiting natural footballers with footy smarts who can think on the ground? Yep, Deledio does put alot of his senior teamates to shame.

great run and carry and sexy quick but still sloppy skills

OK you're all correct, the skills had me tearing my hair out all night. The set shots had me crying in frustration. BUT there was a big deterioration from both sides as the night progressed. Basically lots of blokes were out on their feet in the last quarter due to the pace of the game. Lots of young'uns who are very tired led to lots of turnovers.

Too true, a very fast game which was great to see for a change and the comedy of errors from both sides (and the umpires a couple of times) which was not so great, but I can understand now I've had a night to think about it. Very entertaining overall, even if I was having palpitations and going greyer than I already am. ;D
Considering the road trips we were coming off, and where we were at (1 win from 4 games) I think it was a terrific, gut busting effort to get the points in the end. :clap :clap :clap :clap
