no word, but

EZJ called in real time

'inside ankle 6-8'
Yeah looking at the clip on the rfc website he rolled his left ankle outward, so its an inside ankle. Looked bad could be real serious. *smile*.

This is a massive blow if we lose Shane for an extended period.

No Prestia or Lambert or Cotchin now Shane.

4 of our top 6 mids.

Seriously. Tigers MUST get over GWS, and Adelaide at the very least in the next 4 at least to go in 6 and 6.

Even at 6-6 top 4 is a reach.

Ideally we SHOULD and need to take care of the the Drugs leaving us going in at 7 - 5 (we are still right in the game here for top 4).

My confidence has taken a hit with these 3 completely non competetive and impotent thrashings in the second half.

Its a bit grim but we are still in it for now its a matter of hanging on again its 2019 esque.

Lose next week though and we are in serious Barney Rubble.

What’s the definition of medium term, anyone know?

At RFC it starts at 2 weeks. They must get a lot of knocks and bruises in the “short” category players mostly manage without missing.

Not good news I'm afraid.

It's much rarer to damage the medial ligament in the ankle, because it's a fairly beefy sort of a ligament and can generally take a pretty fair force.

It wouldn't generally need surgery but you'd start with 6-8 weeks of rehab and work up from there.

Here's the real kicker though, with this type of injury it is quite common to have medial instability after you have rehabbed the original injury, which then requires a surgery to tighten up the ligament with a tendon transfer and another 2 months of recovery.

It will be a really nervous wait to see how his ankle is after the initial rehab work.
So basically, we’re *smile*? Is that about right TBR?

Outstanding insight TBR.

So everything being equal, he gets 2 games in the VFL, maybe 2-3 AFL games before finals?

Yeah, best case scenario he is back training in 4 or 5 weeks, playing in 6. He's a wiry sort of build with a lot of training years under his belt so he will be ready to go pretty quickly. May not even need VFL games.

Medium case will be the rehab will be a little slower, back going in 6-7 weeks, playing in 8.

Worst case will be he rehabs and the joint is sloppy so he needs surgery which will end his year.
So he may be back for the st Kilda game June 26, round 15. That’s 6 weeks away. 5 games and a bye.
