We have in the last 20 years gifted players free games, but this bloke will be the 1st player to reach 100 games and have no influence in any of them.
Gutted!

Krak's 100 games were Rioli-esue compared to this dud.

If ever I get re-incarnated as an AFL footballer I'd like to come back as Shane Edwards. At least I'd know I'd get a game no matter what.

I reckon Edwards is one player they are hoping turns it around, but I reckon he will be trade bait at the end of the year and it would be bloody hard to trade a played who spent most of the year at Coburg. Edwards may have a role at some other clubs, but is to small for a mid, gets bumped off the contest to easily, moves well, can find the ball but his disposal under pressure is a killer. Took a great mark under enormous pressure against the Bummers then kicked it to the man on the mark creating the classic turn over goal that saw us drop our bundle. This stuff just kills u. He looks ok when he runs and spreads and can deliver ok when has time and space, but put pressure into the equation and it's a very different story.

I remember him last year streaming down field kicking the ball long to advantage to Jack against the Eagles thinking this kid has arrived. He needs to find that form quickly or he must be trade bait.

pffft that is why the RFC has given him a nice new fat 3 year deal............straight off the press!

Edwards contract finished last year according to contract list and he was offered an extension, anyone know how long ?

His kicking is getting worse.

When he was lining up for goal I was thinking to myself, why doesn't he just aim for the boundary umpire who is waiting along the point post for his kick.

Reason for my logic, he will miss him anyway and it may go through for a goal..

Re: Titch looks a bit manly

Like the stubble Titch.

He gets caned on here, still don't think he is the problem. He is having a crack and have him ahead of White Kingy and McGuane

Re: Titch looks a bit manly

My Grandma is more manly than Titch, and she would also swipe him out of traffic like opposition players do.

Has to go at year's end.

Re: Titch looks a bit manly

Nice fetch from the past there Merveille.

Always a bit of fun to look back and see whats transpired over a period of time.

Titch's kicking will always be his biggest hurdle among his detractors, of that there is no doubt, but he's certainly not alone in that department.

Just seems this team is full of guys that have trouble with that skill, no one is immune to it, not even the Cotchin's, Delidio's, Newman's or Houli's who we all know can be beautiful users by foot when they have too.

Have no idea what to put it down to, its a conundrum at this Club, we just butcher the ball and gift the opposition goals far to often and miss easy goal situations ourselves, I can't think of any other reason for it other than they don't practice it enough at training, its one of the basic skills of the game afterall.

Seen a few clangers on Saturday again from Edwards, but certainly no more than Foley, Lids, Jackson, Rance, Martin or McGuane.

Guess its just one of those annoying habits we should be used to by now, I have no answers as to why our kicking is so bad. ....... :don't know

Re: Titch looks a bit manly

Spot on! Our kicking is our biggest problem! We must give away at least 7 goals a week! And yes even lids newman martin and cotch give goals with shockers! But titch and jackson rarely kick the ball well! For me the golden rule is "if you can't kick you go" therefore as much as I like titch and jackson they are the top of my list for going

Re: Titch looks a bit manly

You need to also remember why we shank so many kicks, it's because we are always under pressure.
Teams just bully us to making mistakes, Petard makes 50 tackles against us and all of a sudden we panic when we have got the ball.
What makes it worse is we don't do the 1%ers, Sheppards do not exist, bumps and moving to position,
are our because flaws in our game currently.
Why does Penderbury have 3 weeks to kick a ball?, because there are others making the play for him, the Sheppards, the taggers bump and your players running into the right positions.
If you spend 1 day at training you would be shocked at how good there kicking is.
But it goes beyond that on game day.

Good post. Been a bugbear at Richmond for years how little support our footballers give the ball carrier.
All too happy to stop working after they have distributed the ball or just jog along side.

The second problem is our decision making.
We try to move the ball with system but so often make ridiculous choices with the ball, whether it be a 3 inch handball to a team mate under the gun or a short chip kick to a player in a dangerous area.
Serial offenders of this are McGuane, Thursfield, Rance, Tuck & Jackson.
The turnover is what looks bad but it's often the disposal just before it that's the cause.

Finally the problems lie with the general lack of options the distributor has both in their immediate vicinity & up the ground.
So often our footballers are stagnant. :sleeping
They are just not prepared to get on their bike and make leads & when you're at the ground it's noticeable how little movement there is from the Y&B in general.
The lack of options leads to panic and ultimately errant disposal.

Yep. Referred pressure. Just hand the ball ove to someone else who can be the one to make the mistake.

They are obviously under instructions to take every opportunity to switch back into the corridor and to try to hold possession rather than kick to a contest. The problem with using such a rigid gameplan is that it makes you too predictable to the opposition. Once they sort you out, the only way you can make it work is if your skills are absolutely top-shelf. For a lot of our guys they aren't.

So what should Hardwick do? Should he give up on his gameplan because his players are not good enough and modify it into one that they can handle? Should he give up on his players and find some who have got the skills that he needs? Should he presevere with his players and drill them until their skills improve?

There is evidence that all three are happening. Just not fast enough for most of us.

He's just got to keep turning players over until he finds players who can execute what he wants and hope that he doesn't get turned over in the process..

Selfish & dumb football. It's been our problem for years.

But Titch is not manly and not up to it. Waste of a second round pick. Poor skill set through the door once again.

Re: Shane Edwards (Merged)

When you think about it, it's the unselfish player that runs to space to give an option, to gut run and to help the team.

A selfish players holds on to the ball till they are in trouble then gives it off close-by and places a team-mate under the hammer, just to release the pressure off him.

Gee, I can remember Craig Lambert being a specialist at that, and then he passed the baton on to Wayne Campbell.

That God someone else runs our midfield now.................oops!
