Since the RFC is in an award giving mood, I think it is time for nominations for the annual Shane Tuck Award.
For the uninitiated, the Shane Tuck Award began in 2004. It was awarded to Shane Tuck in a year that saw him dominate the VFL competition yet not given a go in the seniors until the end of the season. It's basically the "hard-luck" award, or the "coach didn't give you a fair go" award.
Winners have been:
2004 Shane Tuck - inaugural
2005 Nathan Foley
2006 Cam Howat
Must admit that it is a difficult award to give this year, considering the senior selection rotation policy.
If we can't find a winner, we may set a precedent and award it to a player outside the club. Yes, David Rodan, the ultimate hard-luck story, who was told at Tigerland that he wasn't worth keeping, went to another club and starred.
Anyway, we're taking nominations now.
All are welcome.
