Shane Tuck, How good can he be? A kouta type ?

Tuck is a very valuable player i agree for the club. He is a player who can play on ball and even as a chf as he is tall enough, a strong overhead mark and a relaible kick actaully.

He should be an inspiration to other players that if you persevere enough you can make at an afl level.

What we sometimes forget he was almost lost to us when Danny was coach and if Terry hadnt arrived at the club.

Correct me if i am wrong it was between Tuck and Fleming for the clubs last listed player.

If I remember correctly Terry said he was cleaning out his office and Tucky was at Punt Road in the off season running and doing weights by his lonesome. Terry liked what he saw, a fringe player working his butt off, and changed his mind, keeping him on the list, thank God.

and the results are clear for all to see.

i have two mantras written on cards and stuck up above my PC

results reflect preparation

You are what you think

You never know scoop, but you'd have to say its unlikely. I'm not sure you really appreciate how good Kouta was. Better than Judd is now in my book, Judd may get as good. Kouta, Voss and Carey were the undisputed best players in the comp over a long period, finals, consistency, winning games on their own, unstoppable.

Just wondering what people think of the Shane Tuck ceiling. How good can he get? If this is as good as he gets and he plays another 150 games at this rate he will a star. Personally, I see Tucky turning into (if he isn't already) a  Kouta type midfielder. Kouta in his prime was the impossible match up before his knees curbed him of his run and jump.  I see Tucky heading this way. Already he is a taller mid fielder but with another massive preseason Tuck may become as powerful as Kouta through the upper body.

Don't get carried away with Tucky averaging more disposals then Kouta, longevity counts for something and Kouta has had a terrible run wit injury.  I just think there very similar types and I would hope Kouta in his prime is where Tucky is heading.   Just a point to throw open to debate on a cold Thursday morning.

If Tucky could become 2/3rds the player Kouta was before his knee injuries i'd be rapt and astounded.

Johnson, Coughlan and Tuck are as good as any midfield group going around.

While they're good, they're nowhere near as good as the top midfields of the comp (ie, Adelaide, West Coast, Bullies, Saints, etc...)  Lacking in real class, speed and footskills.

No way. Judd, Kerr and Cousins is way better. Ball, Hayes and Dal Santo is way better. Even Hodge, Mitchell and Crawford is better. I'd say Johnson, Coughlan and Tuck is middle of the pack at best.

Agree, at best. No offence to our boys but thats reality.

GO TIGES!!!

he's kicking long crunch goals and hitting targets.. I don't know about his opponent or defensive game..only the coaches really know who's got who and for how long ...but on the attack Greg is a doing a good job.

If Ian doesn't recognise this now, maybe he never will.

To me, he just seems a carbon copy of his father.

Hopefully he'll have his father's longevity. (Touch wood!)
