Tucky where is he at? With Polo & Coughlan coming back into the side where does this leave Shane I love the way he plays footy tough & hard at the contest doesn't always use the ball well though!! Could he be used more forward I know we have more & more options up there with Lids Connors & M Morton but Tuck marks well over head generally is a good shot for goal & attacks the contest which might be handy with the great ball users Pettifer Brown Lids etc up forward?

It's interesting - two blokes see the same footballer so differently.......... :hihi

When Cogs was going good, Tuck was working well with him - two in tight types getting the ball out to the outsiders. We agree he is a great mark, but I reckon with a snatch of time he spots up a pass OK. Just his vision at times......? He is NOT a good set shot in my book - I recall him missing set shots but getting more snaps and on the run shots.

2008 will be an important year for him - real important - though some say 2007 was and he let it go. I disagree. He consolidated his skills in a team that was so lacking at times. He wasn't flash, but did jobs asked of him most of the time on some handy to great players. This year he will need to be and should become more creative if Simmo and Cogs stand up with him. Footy is never a solo game! Watch him blossom when our mid-field has more and more options, and the rotations become more varied. It will be harder for the opposition to do a job on him as he rotates more - hopefully though an attacking position.

if Tucky can get himself fit again it will give us extra flexibility in our midfield with others coming back.

We will be able to rotate the midfield with confidence knowing the guys on the bench can do the job.

Love the way Tucky goes about his footy....with cogs next to him sharing the load they will go back to 2005 form.
If he improves on his kicking delivery im sure he will be great.
tough boy

Needs to be surounded by creative footballers, gets it in tight and funnels it forward 50 metres. Needs to hand off to the better kicks like Lids, Morton and Foley.

He is a important player but needs to be your 3rd or 4th string midfielder if you are a good side.

How many people would turn down Brett Kirk if given the opportunity to have him at Richmond (and make him 5 years younger)?

Not in Kirks league. Kirk is a very smart player. Can shut down his opponent, get loads of the leather, and set up teamates. Had the most tackles in the league. Tuck lacks that special vision and awareness required to be a good in tight player. Misses alot of "better options" when panics and kicks blindly. Similar to Johnson.

Given how dysfunctional our midfield's has been how often does he have a better option? It's also not as if he hasn't done a lot of good work in tight to go with the times he has just bombed away. If you have a look at times when he has had support in there and the team is playing well (2005 before Cogs' injury for example) he does alot of good work in these situations.

I think Tuck had a lot of pressure on his shoulders this year with a lot of young midfielders in the side. But with his mates back in Cogs and Polo I think he will improve and get back to his best form which we did see in glimpses this year. He is a hard worker and can improve in the areas he knows are his best for next year.

one of very few in our side who can actually win his own footy, needs to work on his handball now that we are getting a few more better kicks around him

needs to come off the bench scott burns style, when he is your starting mid you know your in trouble

To be honest,Tucky is the least of our problems.

Pretty much how I see it too Terry.

Right age, big, strong, durable, hard worker, not a mug lair, reasonable breeding. Rarity at RFC.

Did the work of Simmonds and Cogs, as well as own job, in 2007. Struggled a bit in coping with demands placed on him. Who wouldn't?

Indispensable.

just gets it and kicks it long (and often high). works sometimes but not all the time. as said earlier can get it but needs to use his hands more and passing it to "reciever" types. good body though. could really well in a midfield rotation of axel, cogs, tuck, polo, deledio, tambling, raines, johnson, jackson and cotchin(hopefully)
