Shane Tuck

Perhaps Hardwick was simply unimpressed by his form earlier this year and wants to give young Arnot a crack in the midfield.
Personally I totally agree with the decision to leave Tuck. Was very poor defensively before his injury. Arnot will give us far more in that area.

Agree. I can only assume those calling for Tuck are remembering the 2012 Tuck. The 2013 Tuck was ineffectual and dropped for poor form.

I'm a Tuck fan (gotta be careful how you say that!) but yes, I agree it's better to get games into Arnott than Tuck at this stage, plus Arnott has the form.

yes, another newman related question...

who would you expect to have a greater impact in tomorrows game? tuck or newman?

Newman doesn't play in the middle so the question is mute really. The question is who Tuck should replace that he will have a greater influence than in the middle.

disagree that its a moot point. newman as been tried on the wing and half forward and it hasn't worked. when tuck played for us earlier in the year and wasn't in the middle for the bounce, he usually lined up at the back of the square. it's not quite like for like, but tuck would certainly have a much greater influence.

Tuck would have a greater influence than half of the side. No matter who he replaces or where he plays in greasy likely wet conditions in Cairns there's going to be a lot of contested situations and contests. Ball will be fumbled along the deck a lot and we will just need to move it forward.

Maybe he's retiring this year and thus he's viewed as depth but I'd still play our strongest body in the middle in the most important game for us in years. Lose this and serious questions will be asked. Can't tell me Vlastuin deserves his spot averaging 5.5 disposals the last 2 games. Tuck would get that in half a quarter.

Tuck plays in the middle, not the wing, not forward, and not back. I am not arguing whether Newman should be in or not, but I just don't see the relevance in the Tuck versus Newman question. Should Tuck be playing instead of Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Foley, S Edwards, would all be more relevant than your question.

Not really.

Tuck could play inside & we can then give some relief to one or more of those guys & use them more on the outside.

Chimp could certainly do with some assistance. We're gunna kill the poor fella if we keep relying on him to do all the heavy grunt work.

Should have brought Tuck in instead of Petterd then. Newman is much more reliable down back than Petterd.

i expect Newman will have a bigger influence. cant see Tuck doing much myself.

obviously not a dimma favourite. cotchin needs a chop out with the heavy lifting - we'll break him at this rate.

I agree with the posts about giving Cotch a chop-out in the midfield.
Tuck's hard body did take some of the heat off the skipper to always in and under.
That's why I am a little disappointed in Martin's inconsistent efforts to be a more dominant force. At his best his bullish work would soak up some of the physical load that Cotch seems to carry when he doesn't some supporting grunt around him.

Today's conditions would have suited Tuckys game down to a tee.

Fortunately we got up otherwise his non selection would have looked pretty bad IMO.

Will get mauled in tight in the middle against the likes of Barlow Mundy and Fyfe if he doesn't play next week. All big midfielders.
