Finishing up at Norwood would involve going to Adelaide. What a nightmare.

Since you put it like that, I guess I can see why he had a winge.

Seriously though, Mad saint, you've hit the nail on the head, you don't want him, we didn't want him, nobody wanted him. Slow, goes missing when it counts. gets cheap kicks, players like that are a dime a dozen, blonde tips or no. You're better off with a young bloke with potential to be better, but will probably be at least as good.

Ask any tiger fan if they'd rather Matt White or Woey on base wage and I reckon I know what 99.99% of them would say.

Re: Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo is me

Apparently wants to finish his career with East Fremantle, unless a better offer comes along.

Re: Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo is me

Woewodin would have done alright at the right club but it appears the right club didn't want him!

Re: Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo is me

2 GF''s tigersnake, admittedly they were both for losing sides, but he's still done a lot more than most ever get in their career.

Re: Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo is me

When you consider the duds that Collingwood have drafted over the past 3 years which was admitted to by El Presidente Eddie, as well as the duds that are still at Collingood then no wonder Woey is spitting blood he got cut and they got to stay but Woey (i dont know) has been well paid for little return last year and half.
Shane lost pace this year and seemingly lost confidence in his ability as well, somehow reckon the Club, coaching staff and teammates may have helped with his fall from grace was certainly not in favour for most of 05 from an outsiders viewpoint.

I'd say this was the crux of it. Pretty unfortunate for him being a Browlow winner and washed up at 29. Some fall from grace. As was mentioned he's sure to have done well from the game so I don't feel too sorry for him.

He was 2nd in the B&F within that time.

Re: Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo is me

Got a massive contract a year after he won the brownlow which caused heaps of problems at Demons when players were renegoiating their contracts.Demons then offloaded him & hasn't done much since & not surprisingly is now on the football scrapheap.

Re: Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo is me

So who are some of the other"profile" players that missed out?

Zed's dead. Cupidoll's gone missing. Stormin' Norman's out celebrating....who else?

There seems to be a lot of ' but not in my backyard' comments here.
Cagedtiger's is the best example; someone should have picked him up but not Richmond.
Yes its sad that the bloke missed out, but I can guarantee 90% of supporters from 13 other clubs were thinking exactly the same thing. Exceptions would be Collingwood, who didn't want him at all, and Melbourne, who had a much more evenly divided split of 'Yes' and 'No's, of which I was a 'Yes'.
I believe Woewodin could have added something to Melbourne, and any other club for that matter. A club could do much worse than pick up a 29 year old proven player, with the experience listed in this thread.
I'm disappointed for him, but, after his reactions in the media after both his split with Melbourne and his dropping from Collingwood, he makes it very hard for me to feel 'sorry' for him.

I used to rate Woewodin when he first started out at Melbourne, but seemed to become a precious monied player who lost the nerve to put his body on the line. I will say, however, that when I think of WW Vs the likes of Chaffey, Tivenfdale and many other players on lists, it is apparent that there is an imbalance in the game.

The number of times I saw him get caught with the ball this year was unbelievable. Just way too slow, and not skillful enough to play a pinch-hitting Cambo role, who I really think we'll miss next year.

I would never call an AFL player uncourageous (Is that a word?)....but some of the issue-shirks, especially a game against us last year led me to state to my collegues that if we picked him up, I would send my membership card straight back upon receipt with a curt note outlining my course of action.

He's had a good career, hopefully for his sake he's set himself up financially.....his time was up. Good luck in the future Woey

He won a Brownlow playing HBF, a position he too seldom played after that. A great place for slow types. And he could play tight and shut down taller and more talented opponents. On a HBF.

He was just never good enough to play midfield in any team but his reputation (inflated as it was, along with his salary) led him to the clearances. He was not a ball winner of note and not a good user.

His best midfield performances were during the 2002(?) finals where Daniher was using him at the back of packs with Ward to sledgehammer the ball forward to the waiting Armstrong and Johnstone. He was fair dinkum in these contests and was not always a jib. It was solid inconspicuous work, not the kind he was famed for. And he was no star at it.

On his relentless pissing and moaning about how unfair the system is - he has profited like no other in the history of the game from a system which favoured him above more talented and worthy players.

It's only natural that he should spend so much effort snivelling about how unfair it all is.

Damn straight Jack. The guy's made a motza from the game because the "Umpire's Medal" is still seen as the benchmark of the games best player.
Absolutely nothing to complain about. In fact he's damn lucky.

Won a Brownlow

Played over 200 games

Got the big bucks in his career

Played in 2 GFs

He has achieved alot already

Sorry but I have no carefactor what happened to him & he was a scumwood player aswell.

I feel more for Rogers for being shafted wanting to reach his 200 games than I do for this whinging guy.

Well put Jack. 200 games, Brownlow, Grand Finals Woey has nothing to be embrassed about had a good run.

His pissing and moaning was the most overblown story of this off season, your time was up, maybe you could have got one moer year but it wasn't to be. JUst move on to the next phase of your life. I get the feeling that Woey has no other career options or business ventures on the go. I never heard of him studying but he may have. Hopefully he finds soemthing outside of football the sets his life up.
