PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Reading the posts about delisting/trading so many of the more experienced players makes me wonder if people forget we've really concentrated on youth the last couple of seasons.

We have a heap of kids who haven't proven themselves yet.  There are also a lot of immature bodies amongst them.

These kids were speculative picks for our future but they need some experience around them.  For that reason I won't be surprised if we hold on an extra year to players we'd prefer to delist and if we get a couple of re-cycled players.

We all know that some players don't seem to have what it takes.  We all know that some come from a sustained culture of failure.  We all know some are too slow or too left sided or too unskilled.

The fact is we can't just have a team of lightweight under 20's.

In some ways I think poor attitude is a more important criteria than slight lack of skill or pace for delisting this year.

Acceptance of a losing culture is a poison we need to stop infecting the kids.  They need to learn that despite any deficiencies they always have to give 100% and that losing shouldn't be tolerated.

In another year or two our list won't be recognisable from the past era of failure and we have to make sure the culture doesn't linger on after the culprits have gone.

Good luck Terry and Greg...I have great faith you'll know what needs to be done and I expect whatever happens this year will only be a small piece in the jigsaw of future success and there will be far more scope for further change next year.
