There are calls for the AFL to use half of their windfall to increase player payments but I'm not in favour of that. An increase maybe but nowhere near what's being called for.

I think some of the money should go towards the footy fans. They're the ones who've kept the AFL going. It's expensive to take a family to the footy. The extra costs to telly stations are going to be passed on somewhere along the line. Maybe increased prices to consumers to cover advertising costs.

I agree with Peter Bell that the rookies should receive a pay rise. The $25,750 they receive now isn't enormous money.

I'd like to see that taken further though.

The main way I'd like to see the AFL channel money back into the game is to subsidise rookies for clubs so they all have full lists. This would give a lot more kids a chance of making it.

Any other ideas how the AFL should share their booty?

First and foremost the price of Beer should be reduced at the Footy. :beer :beer :hihi :hihi

Good idea Rosy - the AFL could fund 4 rookies for each team AND pay them a decent wage. Rookies train as hard and as long as the listed players. $25,000 for a full time job that places restrictions on food, drink, social activities isn't much!

Know whatireckon?get a big fat subsidy off Vladimir, the Richmond footy club, and, along with sponsorship for PuntRoadEnd........fund a courtesy bus to pick up and drop off PuntRoadEnders..That way I can meet the faces behind the names as well as enjoying the footy..........Owzat for a bit of creative thinking? ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'll go along with Rookies getting a pay increase and maybe increase the minimum wage for listed players.

I personally think alot of players are overpaid and most the money should go to the clubs. If the clubs dont survive, there will be 44 less players for each club that folds.

But, I totally agree that the AFL should cap the price of admission and also reward the loyal supporters that purchase a club membership each and every year.

While I agree that the price of admission is reason value compared to some other sporting events. For some families it can be alittle too expensive to take the family to the footy. It's becoming a game for the corperate person.

If the AFL was serious about grass roots footy, then they should consider making it affordable for the average family to go to the footy as a family. It's been the grass root supporters that have really made the game. It's time the AFL start rewarding them.

Definately lower admissions to the games. It wasnt until I took my cousins to the footy last season that I realised how rediculous the prices are.
