This will rank with the Hogg for Dundas (and others) trade as one of our best.

JB wasnt Hogg traded for Broderick, Michael Gale & Dundas....3 fitzroy players for our Hogg

Yep, I prefer to focus on the Dundas aspect. ;D

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

grigg for collins trade was always going to benefit us. We already have a number of Collins like players- light bodied medium forwards/midfielders.
Grigg fields a need- big body, some games under belt and win plenty of ball. Having him in the midfield (as well as Houli) allows players like White and King to perform specific roles and therefore help the side significantly.
You see all the best sides have a few guys who just do a small but crucial role for the team. Like a few saints when they were at their peak: like Baker etc who would just do a specific role. Same for Geelong: they had Varcoe who task was just chase and tackle and provide run. A simplified task that is crucial.

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

Very pleased to have Shaun aboard. Collins only played one good game a year.

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

Collins apparently picked up 33 touches in the VFL and was BOG by a long way.

He would still be in our best 22, more competition for spots at Carlton. Be interesting to see how he goes once he gets a few games.

It's easier for Grigg to stand out at Richmond than it is for Collins when he gets games.

I like Collins but Griggs game on Friday night was better than any game Collins play for the RFC.

Agree. Grigg is a bigger unit too, Collins gives as more of the same Nason, Webberly, Nahas etc.

I agree too. Collins had big wraps from some on here, but I only saw glimpses of what I think he could do. Don't think we will ever think we missed out on this trade.

I think it is a lot easier to play well for a winning team, you can get a lot more ball fed to you rather than having to get it while under the pump.

Yes good point, but Grigg plays in an average team so it's easier for him to stand out imo.
Where as for Collins (when he gets a game) he's surrounded by guns.

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

Wasn't trying to compare the two, just thought there might be a bit of interest in a former (well liked) player.

Personally I prefer Grigg myself.

Cant compare, they play different types of games. Collins is an outside player and Grigg is an inside player. We'll see at the end of their careers whos been more valuable to their respective teams. We needed another young, big bodied inside midfielder and i think we've done ok as far as team needs.

Surrounded by guns?

Carlton are a bottom half of the 8 side at best I would'nt say their side is full of guns, Judd,Gibbs,Muphy, and a couple of others but it drops off quickly after that

Yeah I over exaggerated with the "guns" comment.
Their midfield is streets ahead of Richmond.....that's what I was getting at.
