Good luck to him. Hard task first up against the premiers and he's still only a kid. Probably get Shaw or someone similar.

Would rather Beaker than Houli that's for sure.

nah houli will come good

It is a decent point, but not sure of the validity of your examples for players staying at there current clubs once suitable trades were unable to be found. They were both under contract so had to stay.

True, but there are virtually no examples of anyone good making it to the PSD as an uncontracted player in years. You can get older guys like Bradshaw, Bruce or McPhee but not someone like Grigg who has some trade value since Nick Stevens in 2003.

I also think we need to move on from this, I wish Collo to play well in the midst of a Carlton season that turns horribly bad from this week onwards.

Now this leysy definately agrees on. ;D

Andrew Walker was keen to go back to South Australia, Will Thursfield was keen to find a new club among others. Where players can't find a suitable trade they often re-sign than risk the draft. In the absence of evidence that Grigg would have made it to us in the PSD I think we made the right decision.

Andrew Walker is a Victorian not sure it was him looking to go so much as Adelaide wanting him and was willing to go if a deal could be reached but was just as happy to stay.

Oh dear, Andy doing his best to settle this argument tonight.
You aren't wrong, lc. He's been about 9 different colours of awful. He might bob up and do the odd useful thing but he's 90% passenger. I was happy with the trade when it happened and tonight is confirming a few things.

Andy will be alright, been on the ground for 5 minutes.
Geez ::)
yes - only one turnover for a Collingwood goal in a tight game - just want you don't want from an impact player.

Hope he does alright though

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

Awful early, got better as it went on, a couple of quite classy possessions actually.

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

Overcame that early mistake and actually offered something for the Blues. Still think we'll end up in front with the trade, but always liked the gradual progression of Andy and will wish him as far as I can for a player for Carlton.

Yeah, early nerves but not too bad after that. 9 touches, 7 marks and 0.1 in a quarter and a half.

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

Turned it over a bit. Not overly impressed. never was to be honest.

You can't be serious? I've heard of judging players on one game but one quarter?

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

was dead against the trade. still got a big soft spot for collo but we have won the war there people. Grigg is gunna be a gun. Collo woulda been an inconsistant flashy at times trier.

hats off to the recruiting powers to be

40 minutes of footy.... ended going alright after the early nerves.
I concede that he did come on in junk time though....I'd like to see him start the game, that'll make it easier to judge.

Grigg is clearly the better player.

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

Just about where you'd expect Andy to be at, gave them a bit of a boost with fresh legs but just missed weighted a few kicks and made a few errors

On a team that has a few passengers he wasn't the worst when he was on the ground

Re: Collins for Grigg (Merged)

nervous start, played better as the game went on. It is hard to judge him on 1 qtr. Carlton had a heap of duds today and he wasnt one of them.
hampson- cant mark, shocking
carausso, shithouse
Russell, what a waste
Robertson, does the extraordinarily and then a 1 minute later does the ordinary
dugan, looks lost, looks fat
Gibb, soft, doesn't like body contact,
Thornton, thursfield's brother
Betts, Where were you????

how in the hell are they going to play in the 8??
