Sheeds says he will lead Essendon to a flag in 2026!

Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy has revealed his latest cunning plan to win a Premiership in 2026 with his beloved Bombers. As usual, the wily old coach is a step ahead of the opposition, as he has been for much of his career.
"It is all about the father-son rule," says Sheedy. This AFL caper is about forward planning and I think that there is an untapped opportunity here."
Sheedy has revealed exclusively to this reporter that Dean Rioli will play two more games this year to ensure that he reaches the magical 100 games, the most important number on Sheedy's horizon.
"Sure Dean is a bit unfit just now but he has spent the last two weeks in a sauna in an attempt to get his weight down below 150 kilos. Imagine how good our side will be in 2026 when we draft his sons! Twins run in his family, you know."
When it was pointed out to Sheedy that Rioli doesn' t as yet have any sons, Sheedy dismissed this as a technicality, pointing out that James Hird already has two. They will be in their prime by 2026," Sheedy enthused.
"Scotty Camporeale has come to the party, his wife recently giving birth to twin boys. All we have to do now is get another 90 or so games into Scotty and they will be ours also.
I sat Matty Lloyd down the other day over a cuppa (Matty had a Bacardi breezer) and I explained the facts of life to him. He and Lisa are now very excited about all this too and you can expect a happy announcement sooner rather than later from that quarter."
Sheedy also nominated Aaron Henneman as someone who only needs another 40 or so games before his unborn sons will be tied to the Bombers for ever and gun recruit Richard Cole as potential candidates for this program. Several Essendon fans were spotted driving towards the Westgate Bridge not long after.
"I'm also looking to draft Shane Woewodin next year. He neither has sons nor has played for Essendon yet but I am very patient, as is the board of the Essendon Footy Club. We're out of control and there is nothing the AFL can do to stop us."
A cunning plan indeed!
