recruit judd. whatever it takes

if it takes a million a year, early draft picks and some players to secure chris judd its a price worth paying. get rid of 4 or 5 senior players. the savings there alone would pay for his salary. not like they are doing much anyway apart from giving the kids a poor example of what is required to be a winner and an excellent example of what to do to be a loser.
judd is a leader, a champion player and a winner. he takes no second prizes and runs himself into the ground each and every game. those around him have no choice but to respond to the example he leads.
as we have seen we are a team without any senior leadership or inspiration and in desperate need of someone to lead the kids by example. he is the best in football. hard gut runner who works like an animal on and off the field. you cant do what he does without training like a mad man.
as he is out of contract at years end he should be the number 1 recruiting priority for the club. unless another champion around his age is available who can influence a side like he can.

Re: recruit judd. whatever it takes

If the tiges need a chop-out to help with his wages they are welcome to my beer money for a fortnight.

I'm in!

Re: recruit judd. whatever it takes

Perhaps this topic is somewhat in jest, however I believe it is gross over simplification to expect any one player to solve our problems. We need a far more fundamental change in our practices, procedures and culture to return to a true force in the competition. This is not a commentary on the abilities of Mr C Judd as they are without question.

Re: recruit judd. whatever it takes

Ridiculous, we need to find the next Judd. Not sellout the future for the second hand model. Hasn't worked in the past, won't work in the future.

Fair call.

Judd for all his powers would probably just elevate us back up to ninth. :spin

Hopefull Francis Jackson & co. can find the new model.

Re: recruit judd. whatever it takes

Richmond would welcome Judd with open arms, but do you think he'd want to play for a club like Richmond ?

Brownlow medalist and premiership player. There is no way he'll leave the West Coast and miss playing in finals and in future premiership teams. Something Richmond will not be able to offer for many years to come.

So you'd knock him back if available in the PSD and we could afford him then?

Thats the only way we should take him. Otherwise we give up 3 top 30 draft picks for a player that may only 100 games left in him when none of our youngster are hitting their straps anyway.

DRAFT THE KIDS GET IT!

We need to be careful paying top dollar for ready made champions. We have a good example in our own NGB. He's great and I am please he plays for us (occasionally), but through no fault of his own he does not, at this stage, look like he's going to get back to his best and time is running out for him. We have already lots 2 years of his services in his prime at a high price.

I think we may have lost what little credibility we had in the promise of success talk at some stage over the last 25 years, and I think our stocks may have fallen to an all time low in the past week. If he came to us you may need to question his motives.

Well, since the Tiges have had such a success since 1980 in drafting 'ready made champions' - I think we should do it. ::)

Lock him in for a 7 year contract and pay about 50% of total player payments to him (and pray he has no serious injuries)
