Never has it been more important we win round 1 IMO.

1. Winning start - something that is desperately needed.

2. We are playing another struggling side - these are the games we need to win

3. Its Calton - The rivalry is gaining momentum again.

4. The Club must know this game means a lot to the fans/members

5. The little nudge up our membership drive would recieve.

6. Our kid development vs their kid development.

7. Blockbuster - the feeling and positives our players would get from a win

theres a few others I have thought about lately, however I can't think of it right now.

However I am holding this game with more weight than I have in a long time, especially for a 1st round.

Fire Up TIGES!!!!!!

Stuff the whole crunch game crap.

Every game is winnable, they should not need extra incentive/motivation to win games.

:ban the crunch game.

and if this is named the "crucnch" gane and we happen to lose...by one point or by heaps...what does that do to the players and supporters??? i say NO to the crunch game...

every one knows how important each game is

It's crunch game for me, the sticker goes on the car if we win. If we don't win, then I will need to designate another "crunch" game

I'm with you (for once ;D) rob. Isn't the last hundred plus years of tradition enough bloody motivation enough to treat every game as if it's your last?

I also do wish it was the case, but is it with Richmond?

The problem I have with the concept of the "crunch" game, is that it is by definition a once-off effort to kick more arse than one usually would. It's almost a lose/lose - if you win, then you create this idea that you only won because it was a crunch game, and if you lose, then you reaffirm that your better-than-best efforts are not enough to get results.

Playing with fire if you ask me.

A better result would be a game where everyone committed to sticking to the game plan, playing by team rules, and backing each other up out on the field. If we win, it builds confidence in the structure, and gives players something to fall back on psychologically when things aren't looking so great. If we lose, then we at least have the positives of self and team discipline - no scapegoats, no excuses.

While I'll take a win any day of the week, I'd rather see it done via structure and consistency, than by individual acts of brilliance or above-and-beyond efforts.

In short, I want to see the Tiges play like a team of professional sportsmen, rather than a bunch of egos competing for bragging rights at the pub.

I too am not a big fan of the 'crunch' game concept - it is purely a media hype build-up to generate interest.

Fact of the matter is last time I looked they are professional sportsmen, and shouldn't need a sensationalised adjective to define this game from any other.

I would rather they play to a plan throughout the season, than an all or nothing approach each game. If the plan needs tweeking, by all means make the changes, but not at the expense of losing a season long focus/direction.

'Crunch' for Rd 1, nah don't think so.

Talk to me again on the last weekend in September, then I'll entertain the 'Crunch' game concept.
