Should the club be answerable to the membership?

this thread is probably the place. i would like to know from those in charge at what stage do we prioritize youth. three 30 yr olds promoted to the seniors and we are 1 and 5 and not looking anywhere near a finals side. the club owes it to those of us who are prepared to do the hard yards. we deserve to know exactly what the long term vision is. if they come out and say the list is close to finals i can say fair enough i will see ya all in 10 yrs time im outta here.

I guess this is my point too. I am not going to write to the club about the performance of a player - what could that possibly achieve. I am interested in strategic choices. If we constantly are sending unfit players out there and risking injury, i want to know what the strategic thought is behind that - not for the last round, but the systemic management of the club and what they think sending cousins and richo out there injured is going to produce. If the answer is anything less that long term gain, then fire the idiots who are not sticking to the strategy.
If the management is making bad choices, i want to know what the plan is. It really shouldn't be that hard to run an AFL club. Make a plan, stick to it and you SHOULD win a premiership every 16 years on average. We should be in contention for one now. Unfortunately, Frawley ruined one generation (which will affect us for that length of time - 10 years, or until about 2011-13) and you could argue we are doing the same thing again - sacrificing another generation.
I want to know why the club doesn't appear to be sticking to a plan - if in fact we have one.

YES!

Its our memberships and support that help make ends meet. They should also be answerable to their sponsors for insipid displays

Last time I looked at the club accounts, membership revenue and membership servicing costs were almost exactly the same. Everything else the club did ie field a football team was covered by AFL dividend and sponsors.

IMO the club would be better off selling season tickets without voting rights. Which is pretty much the case at all the interstate clubs.
