PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Do you expect the Richmond Football Club to make the finals in Wallace's 4th year as coach?

It's a fair question.

Seems to me that many have just written off our chances this year before the season has started. :-\
An overwhelming majority seem resigned to a bottom 4 finish and are quite happy to see another season down the drain.

I'm not.

Personally in Wallace's 4th season I don't think such low expectations are anywhere near enough.
When Wallace was appointed way back in 2004, I don't think it would have been at all unreasonable for all to expect finals in his 4th year.

I know I did.

It was all part of the 5 year plan. The blueprint of success or so it seemed...

Lately I'm confused about what that 5 year contract was all about.
Wasn't it going to take that long to win a premiership?
Ideally this season Terry should be readying Richmond for a genuine top four assault in '09(his fifth year).
Now it seems he was given 5 years to rebuild by picking up high draft picks.
Hmmm... :headscratch

IMO Wallace has played his card by recruiting the likes of McMahon and Morton & retreads Collard & Cartlidge rather than continuing to take kids.
He knows that whilst some supporters may be resigned to finishing bottom four, the reality is no matter how bright they are they'll turn pretty feral if things start to mirror last season.
He needs results out of this squad or his neck will be squarely on the line.

IMHO we should expect finals this year and nothing less. Come on Terry show us why you are earning the big bucks.

Or is the carrot going to continue to lead the donkey?
