I have been noticing that Simmo and Sir Les (Patto) have been getting big possession counts. I went back and totalled the combined position stats of our ruck duo and compared that with the opposition's and found that in every game this year our ruck duo have had more possessions than the opposition. In fact against Freo, Sir Les and Simmo both individually had more possessions that Sandioveratedlands and Warnock combined.

Now it is true that in two games we have been beaten badly in the taps, both Simmo and Patto are undersized so you would expect that. But in modern AFL losing hitouts does not mean you lose clearances (which is that stats that really matters) and we’ve actually been pretty good overall in the clearances this year. So thus far this year you have to say our ruck duo has been pretty effective.
