Did any of you see the size of the Carlton Players in the midfield last night compared to our players - and then around the ground they always seem to be bigger bodied than us and just as quick.

Foley is small we know and his speed is one of his greatest assets but he couldn't run away from the bigger Carlton players (Mind you he did catch tackle and bury Judd at one centre bounce)

Edwards looked like a kid against men

Browny looked small against the Carlton backline yet he could not use his speed to an advantage

Our Captain looked small on the field compared to the Carlton players

Even Waite held his own - if not beat our biggest guy Richo

They had bigger bodied boys who appeared to be just as quick as our small players - maybe had something to do with the Carlton team being on top all over the ground and hence the ball movement favoured them and put their players at an advantage.

Why do we have small whimpy looking players rather than big strong quick hard hitting players?

when you get smashed you always look small. Our boys are big enough.

The blue walked with a swagger, heads held high, chests puffed out.

We shuffled, heads down, shoulders slouched

My husband commented on our light bodies too Remote. Geez Kruezer is a solid bodied bloke now. Size doesn't always matter though. At one stage Thirsty was on Eddie Betts. :o

The real areas we lacked size in weren't physically visible imo. Very small hearts. Undetectable team spirit. Negligable leadership. We need to grow in those areas, and grow quickly.

ive always said bigger stronger faster with skill. we have been behind in all four areas for a long while now.

one of our troubles is our bigger players are mainly deficient in areas. look at tuck and raines serious kicking deficiency and with raines decision making problems as well. not having a go at raines whilst his kicking was still the same at least he had a dip.

Our kicking skills did let us down every time our running backs got the ball I shuddered - who's chest is this going to end up on? Invariably it was a Carlton Player's! Then out of no where rushes Cousins off the back line a 45 to 50 meter pass hits Morton chest high lace out (and yes we goaled from it)

You are right claw - kicking skills make a hell of a difference in todays game.......

Fev looked absolutely massive. He'll have to expect some more foot, ankle, knee, etc problems haughling that massive bulk around.

He is massive and he isn't afraid to use it. Gotta begrudginly admit that, watching him close up, I was impressed with how he threw his body in there to hold the ball in or make a contest. He's harder working than I would have given him credit for and he'd certainly make the opposition hurt.
