Skill errors? What skill errors?

The skill errors are still there to a certain extent.

The big improvement is in the players' performance in running in packs and backing each other up. If one player misses the receive, another takes the crumb.

This has been one of the MOST important factors.

Old but very true cliche is Bad kicking = Bad footy.

Are there stats available that list the number of times an opposition side has scored a goal as a direct result of the Tigers kicking a behind in 06 ?

Is it possible to compare previous years when the kick-in has had to wait for the wave of the flags ?

IMO, the brand of footy the young Tigers are playing is excellant to watch and support !

Just had a chance to see the replay in England. Richmond and Essendon looked considerably better than the Rich v Carlton game. JON's effort was just great and it was especially nice to hear Tim lane's ridiculous commentary harking back to Essendon come from behind 1984 premiership. Good one Tim hope you are enjoying your beloved Blues on the bottom too !

anyone who thinks its just kicking for goal is kidding themselves. the turnovers and poor finishing is killing us.

the last 2 games we have played would have to be 2 of the worst games i have seen. the bulldog game was abysmal and the skills werent to flash against west coast after q time.fact is our skills have been poor every game this yr.
the trouble is we have played 3 very ordinary teams who have not hurt our errors.continue to make shocking skill errorsand poor decisions and sides like syd adelaide and geelong our next 3 opponents will make us pay dearly.wallace himself said if you turn the ball over every third possesion you cant expect to win many games of footy,
i believe one reason why we are put down in the media is the fact everyone in the media is hit in the face with the the poor skills and rightly dont rate us because of them.
i also believe changes to the rules is allowing many outside players who struggled in the past to become more important to teams than used to be the case.

If you only watch games on the box, you might get that impression claw meister. They were actually two of the most enjoyable and exciting games to be at except for the missed goals which was very frustrating. Sure there were mistakes but the running game, aggression and risk taking of the tiger cubs was fantastic. Much better than the defensive tripe served up during the Frawley era.

Better sides will punish poor finishing and skill errors, no doubt. We were much the better side against Carlton and also the better side against Essendon although it probably would pain you to admit that. IF we can finish better and play with the same endeavour we will be a chance against the Swans.

Your last point is your best - yes the running game now being played by the tigers and new kick in rule has affected patterns of play to a certain extent. I take it this means that you admit Tivendale is playing well this year?

I agree antman. Our games are being played at a far more hectic pace than we have in recent memory. This in itself is creating errors but also opportunities to score - look at our inside 50 counts in the last 3 games. There was a significant amount of pressure and contesting in the game last saturday. Compare that with the Hawthorn and North game ( between two teams reasonably considered to be at our level) where there were a lot less contests and pressure plus a slower and less direct movement of the ball.

Winners are bolded in half the games the winner has more clangers. Possibly due to weight of possession? Interesting nevertheless. Note especially the Adelaide/PT game and ST K/WB game.
